San Francisco 49ers 2026 NFL Season Preview, Betting Markets, Odds, Picks & Predictions

The San Francisco 49ers had 12 wins last season despite dealing with an obscene number of injuries. Here are a few of those injuries to put it in perspective:

  • Quarterback Brock Purdy played in nine regular-season games.
  • Edge rusher Nick Bosa played just three games before tearing his ACL.
  • Tight end George Kittle tore his Achilles in the playoffs.
  • Linebacker Fred Warner suffered an ankle fracture and dislocation mid-season.
  • Edge rusher Mykel Williams, the team’s first-round pick in 2025, tore his ACL in Week 9.

Despite the 12 wins, it came to a screeching halt in the Divisional Round, losing 41-6 to the Seattle Seahawks. Below, we’ll provide a season-long preview for the 49ers, examining odds across the Super Bowl, NFC Championship, NFC West, and more. We enter this preview with one notable caveat – at the time of this overview, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was in a car accident that didn’t result in life-threatening injuries. He sustained several injuries, however, including breaking his nose, breaking three ribs, a severe concussion, and more.

San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Odds

Right now, the 49ers are +1900 to win the Super Bowl. Heading into the season, they’ve placed Kittle, Williams, running back Isaac Guerendo, and defensive tackle Alfred Collins on the PUP list. While they’ll be without Kittle for now, he hopes to be back in time for Week 1. If he’s not, though, the 49ers did bring in some reinforcements this offseason to assist Ricky Pearsall with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk MIA. These include wide receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk. And of course, there’s always running back Christian McCaffrey. Not to cop out here, but I will be curious to see when Shanahan returns. Should he miss some time, this could severely impact the trajectory of this team. I think the 49ers are among the top teams in the NFC. However, they have two big problems, and they’re in their division: the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams.

2026 San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship Odds

To get through the NFC, the 49ers will likely need to go through one of (if not both) the Rams and Seahawks. Some other teams to consider are the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, and perhaps a bounce-back Detroit Lions squad. Between the Seahawks’ defense and the Rams building somewhat of a super team with new cornerbacks, Myles Garrett, and the reigning MVP, I think there are too many hurdles for them to overcome.

2026 San Francisco 49ers NFC West Odds

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the 49ers have the sixth-easiest schedule in the NFL heading into the season. Last season, they went 1-1 against both the Rams and Seahawks. While their schedule may be ranked sixth-easiest, they do play some opponents that I feel could be in for bounce-back seasons, such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers, and New York Giants. As I write this, my interest is certainly piqued by the +305 odds given that they won 12 games last season, but I think I’d ultimately pass.

2026 San Francisco 49ers Win Total Odds

The 49ers’ win total is sitting at 9.5 games. This is a no-brainer for me to take the Over. Again, this team won 12 games last season even after numerous injuries and their starting quarterback only playing about half of the regular season.  Now, they have two new receivers and a defensive line with Bosa, a hopefully productive Williams, and Collins, who will look to make up for his miserable rookie season.

2026 San Francisco 49ers To Make The Playoffs Odds

The 49ers are also -146 to make the postseason, and that’s another market I’d take DraftKings Sportsbook up on. The NFC West has the three best teams in the entire conference, and there’s enough room for all of them with three teams making the postseason as a wild-card squad. The 49ers were fourth in the NFL in passing yards per game last season (240.6) despite numerous injuries, Aiyuk going MIA, and not many weapons to work with consistently. Now, they have Evans, Kirk, Pearsall, McCaffrey, a returning Kittle, and also second-round pick De’Zhaun Stribling. It’s expensive, so we will pass but feel free to shoot your shot.

2026 San Francisco 49ers MVP Award Odds & Contenders

  • Brock Purdy
  • Christian McCaffrey

The only player I foresee as having a reasonable chance of winning the MVP on the 49ers is Purdy. In nine games last season, he threw for 2,167 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The yards per game were down, but he equaled the number of touchdowns he had in 2024-25.

With McCaffrey’s rushing production decreasing, the 49ers could pass the ball even more than last year, and now, Purdy has ample targets at his disposal. He’ll need to surpass his 2023-24 form in which he threw for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns, but I do believe that’s not out of the realm of possibility. That said, no, I wouldn’t bet on it.
