Best Bet: TUL O27.5 (-120) at DraftKings
Score Prediction: Tulane 28, Charlotte 21
The Pick: Tulane 28, Charlotte 21
We’ll take Tulane’s team total to go Over based on head-to-head data and Charlotte’s recent game results.
Game Betting Analysis
The immediate standout when looking through betting stats are the pointer per game when Charlotte is home, averaging over 63 per game while we get 47.5 on the line. However, Tulane has gone Under in seven of eight games when playing in North Carolina, the Under also hitting in the last two meetings. The Under has hit in three of four games for Tulane, but Charlotte has seen at least one team score 34 points in four straight games – two of those games touching 50 points. Let’s move to the spread, where Tulane has seen the underdog cover five of six games, however, Charlotte has dropped the spread in seven straight home games. So where do we go? We’ll test Tulane’s point total individually, scoring 27 points or more in both meeting with Charlotte while playing into Charlotte’s trend of seeing a team score 34 or more.

Deciding Factor: Tulane’s Turnover Problem vs. Charlotte’s Newfound Offensive Life
Tulane enters Friday on its worst outing of the season — a 42-19 loss to UTSA in which the Green Wave turned the ball over six times, the most by a Tulane offense since 2012, including three straight fumbles on three straight possessions in the first half and two interceptions from freshman quarterback Trace Johnson. The defense actually did its job in that game (Anthony Rogers had two interceptions, one a pick-six, and Jack Tchienchou forced a fumble, on the heels of a six-turnover showing against Memphis the week before), but the offense couldn’t survive its own mistakes, managing just 67 rushing yards and getting sacked three times. At 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play, Tulane is a two-digit road favorite on paper, but a team that just turned it over six times against a quality AAC opponent is one more sloppy half away from a real upset.
Charlotte, meanwhile, is playing its best football of the season after a putrid start that included blowout losses to Ole Miss (by 32), Memphis (by 51) and North Texas (by 40). New starting quarterback Conner Harrell threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-31 win over Temple on Oct. 17 that snapped a 15-game losing streak and gave the 49ers their first league win since November 2024, while running back Henry Rutledge has topped 100 rushing yards in each of his last two games (123 against Temple, 100-plus against Memphis). Charlotte is still 1-6 and facing a significant talent gap, so one good week doesn’t erase six bad ones. But if Johnson and Tulane’s offense cough the ball up even a fraction as often as they did against UTSA, Harrell and Rutledge have shown over the last few weeks they’re capable of making a depleted Green Wave team pay for it.
