The Pick: Pistons 110, 76ers 108

We’ll take the Under based on head-to-head trends along with the Sixers’ 2026 betting data, while the Pistons to cover also has legs based on the statistics.

Game Betting Analysis

It’s hard to go against the home Pistons in this one, as they are one of the best ATS squads in the NBA with a 6-1 record while covering the last four games against Philadelphia – also going back to six of eight meetings. Detroit has also covered the spread in five straight games as the favorite, winning six outright in a row against the Sixers. However, Philadelphia enters with a respectable 5-3 ATS mark while Joel Embiid might actually play. This concerns us slightly so we head to the total market instead where the Sixers are 2-6 favoring the Under mightily. The Under has hit in four of five meetings along with six of the last eight head-to-heads.

Deciding Factor: Paul Reed’s Stretch-Five Breakout vs. Joel Embiid’s 25-Minute Ceiling

Detroit has been without Jalen Duren since he strained his right hamstring 10 minutes into the October 23 win over Miami, and while the team said he’d be out “at least two weeks,” he’s still not back for Wednesday’s rematch. Paul Reed has filled the gap capably rather than just adequately: since stepping into the void, he’s averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting better than 70% from three on nearly two attempts a night, giving Cade Cunningham a frontcourt partner who spaces the floor rather than just rolling to the rim. Reed flashed exactly that ceiling the night Duren went down, finishing 8-for-11 from the field (2-for-2 from deep) for 19 points and 11 rebounds, and his craftiness finishing around length has offset what Detroit’s missing inside. The results speak for themselves — the Pistons are 6-1, winners of three straight, and have held four consecutive opponents under 95 points, a defensive floor that travels regardless of who’s protecting the rim and gives Detroit a real chance to control tempo again tonight.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, got good news when Joel Embiid didn’t appear on Wednesday’s injury report and is expected to play at Little Caesars Arena, but coach Nick Nurse has him on a firm 25-minute restriction while managing a right plantar fasciitis issue that had Embiid sitting the entire fourth quarter of Monday’s win over Chicago. His per-game numbers are still strong — 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists through five games — but that workload cap means extended stretches without his two-way anchor, and Philadelphia’s depth behind him is thin, with Dominick Barlow (low back stress reaction) out since early camp and Ariel Hukporti done for the season after Achilles surgery. If Reed can keep knocking down threes and cleaning the glass in those center minutes whenever Embiid sits, Detroit’s switch-heavy, possession-starving defense could turn this into the same kind of slog that bit Philadelphia in the October 25 meeting — giving the Pistons a genuine path to a season-series sweep even with their own starting center still sidelined
