Later in the night, we pair Bennett with Bobby McMann and Artemi Panarin with both productive players in a position to thrive while pressuring the net at a high rate. For more information, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.
Sam Bennett (Panthers vs. Blackhawks) Goal Odds
After failing to score in his last five games, Sam Bennett was able to snap his streak by sending one in Detroit’s net. Even during Bennett’s recent skid, the Florida Panthers center was still able to generate high quality shot attempts at a consistent rate, averaging 0.32 Expected Goals per game.
Heading into Wednesday night’s matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, Bennett will be able to continue to light the lamp by picking apart a back line that ranks near dead last in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Especially with Spencer Knight struggling to recapture the same success he had earlier in the year with the former Panthers goalie giving up 3.28 Goals Against per game while averaging a .894 Save Percentage.
In 5-on-4 Situations, Bennett has steadily regressed while leading the Panthers second unit, mustering up just 0.05 Expected Goals per penalty. With the Blackhawks unable to keep a body in front of the puck, Bennett will be able to convert his shot attempts into Shots on Goal at a higher rate, increasing his probability of scoring.
Bobby McMann (Kraken vs. Flames) Goal Odds
Even with Jared McCann out with an injury, Bobby McMann has been unable to capitalize on his heavier workload, failing to score a Goal in his last seven starts. A stunning performance when factoring in McMann’s aggression, leading the Seattle Kraken in Shots on Goal with an average of 2.64 per game.
Fortunately for McMann, the Kraken forward will be able to get back on the sheet against the Calgary Flames by taking advantage of a back line that resides in the bottom ten in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. When isolated, Dustin Wolf has been abysmal in the Flames net this season, giving up nearly four Goals Against per game.
When in the Power Play, McMann’s usage has remained consistent, making it easier to brush aside regression. With Jordan Eberle pulling defensive attention to his side of the ice, the width of McMann’s shooting lanes will widen, improving the quality of his Shots on Goal.
Artemi Panarin (Kings vs. Sharks) Goal Odds
In his second year with the Los Angeles Kings, Artemi Panarin has quickly carved out a role as one of the focal points of the offense, averaging 0.37 Expected Goals while generating 3.23 Shots on Goal per game.
In a favorable matchup against the San Jose Sharks, Panarin will have a great opportunity to score by blitzing through the middle of a back line that struggles to smother the puck per their below league average mark in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots. Even with the Kings lacking the versatility that is needed to create havoc in front of the net, Alex Nedeljkovic will be unable to match Panarin’s output while averaging a Save Percentage of .899.
Adrian Kempe is also expected to make his return from injury, giving Panarin the support he needs to help stretch out the coverage in 5-on-4 Situations, leading to a higher volume of Shots on Goal. If Kempe is able to suit up, add more to your position on Panarin.
