Denver Nuggets at Washington Wizards 3/21/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds
Denver Nuggets at Washington Wizards Preview
The Denver Nuggets are still within grasp of changing the playoff picture out West, and they’ll be on the road against a team that has less than a glimmer of a hope of making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference in the Washington Wizards tonight.
The Nuggets are 47-22 on the season and sit just a half game away from the Golden State Warriors for second place in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are 6-4 in their last 10 and have won their last four straight. The Wizards are 30-41 and are 11th in the Eastern Conference. While they haven’t officially been eliminated from playoff contention just yet, they have a less than one percent chance to make it into the playoffs. They are 5-5 in their last 10 and lost their last game entering tonight’s matchup.
This will be the first interconference matchup between the Nuggets and Wizards this season. They last played last March, with the Nuggets winning 108-100 behind a 25-point night from Jamal Murray, while Bradley Beal paced the Wizards with 24 points.

Nuggets Analysis
The Denver Nuggets have bounced back from a loss to the Golden State Warriors on March 8 by winning four straight over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics.
The Nuggets and Celtics were close through three quarters, but Denver closed out strong with an 11-point rally leading to a 34-25 fourth quarter as Isaiah Thomas returned to Boston.
The win clinched a playoff berth for the Nuggets for the first time since 2013.
“I think we realized early on this season that we had a chance to have a special season, and that remains the case,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. “I told the guys after: ‘We should feel good about this. Life is about celebrating moments.’”
The Nuggets had seven players score in double figures. They were led by center Nikola Jokic, who finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Will Barton added 20 points, Gary Harris had 16 and Paul Millsap finished the night with 12 points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes..

Wizards Analysis
The Wizards followed a 135-128 win over the Memphis Grizzlies by two consecutive losses. They were blown out 116-95 by the Utah Jazz and went into overtime in their 120-126 loss to the Chicago Bulls last night.
Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis seem to be experiencing career resurgences since joining the Wizards. They’ve been able to provide some extra scoring to help Bradley Beal, but the Wizards have had problems either getting enough help aside from the aforementioned players and getting stops on the other end of the floor.
The Bulls were shorthanded, but the Wizards allowed both Lauri Markkanen and Kris Dunn to explode and they also could not stop the likes of Shaquille Harrison, Cristiano Feliciano, and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.
Parker led the Wizards with 28 points off the bench. Beal added 27 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, and Portis had 15 points. Tomas Satoransky, who has been a bright spot for the Wizards as he’d had to play a bigger role in John Wall’s injury, had 16 points and seven assists. Rookie Troy Brown got the start in the second half for Trevor Ariza and finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
