Golden State Warriors at Oklahoma City Thunder 3/16/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds

Golden State Warriors at Oklahoma City Thunder Preview

In the last month, the Oklahoma City Thunder have slid down the Western Conference standings, but you can bet they’ll be ready as the Golden State Warriors return to Chesapeake Energy Arena again this season in what has become one of the best rivalries in the NBA. At this point, the Thunder and Warriors are both locks for the playoffs, but there is still a ton of shuffling that could happen before the playoffs start.

The Warriors are 46-21 and first in the Western Conference, but they have had their share of struggles lately. They are 5-5 in their last 10, won their last game and just one game ahead of the Denver Nuggets. A win by the Thunder tonight could potentially affect their own seeding and give the Warriors less of a margin. The Thunder are 42-27 and sit at fifth in the Western Conference, just a half-game behind the Portland Trail Blazers. The Thunder have also struggles, are 4-6 in their last 10 and enter tonight’s game on a loss.

The Warriors and Thunder last played on November 21, with the Thunder winning big, 123-95. Dennis Schroeder led the Thunder with 32 points, while Kevin Durant paced the Warriors with 27 points and 14 rebounds.

Warriors Analysis

Golden State WarriorsThe Golden State Warriors bounced back from their 111-115 loss to the Phoenix Suns last Sunday by ending the Houston Rockets‘ league-leading nine-game winning streak 106-104 on Wednesday night.

While DeMarcus Cousins has played well in his return from his Achilles injury, the Warriors have had some troubles integrating him into the offense and getting adjusted to having him out there, especially as he’s played more minutes, but they seem to be turning a corner.

“I think we need to remind ourselves that he’s still pretty early in the process,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “I don’t know how many games he’s played for us, 20? We’re all learning. Me, too. I’ve got to learn how to use him better.”

In the win over the Rockets, Cousins had one of his most complete games, finishing with 27 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Kevin Durant did not play against Houston and he’s questionable tonight against his former team. In the Rockets game, without Durant, only three players scored in double figures, with Klay Thompson scoring 30 and Stephen Curry adding 24. They’ll likely need more tonight, not only from their second unit but also their starters. Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala combined for just five points on Wednesday.

Oklahoma City Thunder Starting Lineup

Thunder Analysis

Oklahoma City ThunderThe Oklahoma City Thunder had a disappointing 106-108 loss against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night as they blew a big first-half lead.

Paul George tried to carry his current team against his former team, but his effort just came up short, as he finished with 36 points.

“He was big,” Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. “There’s no question, the way he works on both ends of the floor, he plays through a lot of contact.”

Russell Westbrook also finished with a triple-double, with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. Steven Adams also added 17 points, but Jerami Grant, who has been a bright spot for the Thunder all season, struggled through a three-point, two rebound game.
