Utah Jazz at Golden State Warriors Preview
The Golden State Warriors have had to come from behind to win in their last two games, but head coach Steve Kerr likely hopes his team won’t have to rally back as they host the surging Utah Jazz tonight.
The Warriors currently lead the Western Conference with a 40-15 record and maintain a comfortable three-game lead over the Denver Nuggets. They have won their last four consecutive games and are 9-1 in their last 10 games. Utah has won their last two games. They are sixth in the West with a 32-24 record and are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
The Warriors will be looking to avenge their December 19 loss to the Jazz. The Jazz, led by 20 points from Joe Ingles, won 108-103. Stephen Curry had 32 in a losing effort for the Warriors. In the first matchup of the season, Golden State just eked out a 124-123 win over the Jazz on October 19, with Kevin Durant scoring 38 points, and Ingles leading the Jazz with 27.

Jazz Analysis
If the Jazz are going to extend their two-game winning streak, they’ll have to do it against the top team in the Western Conference tonight. They started the streak with a 116-88 win over the Phoenix Suns and had a statement win on Saturday night 125-105 over the San Antonio Spurs.
In the win over the Spurs, the Jazz scored 39 points in the second and fourth quarters and limited LaMarcus Aldridge to 15 points.
Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz in scoring with 23 points, and Rudy Gobert, who was snubbed from the All-Star Game, had 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Jazz swingman Royce O’Neal has played well off the bench for Utah lately and has seen a boost in his playing time. He’s reached double digits in scoring in his last three games. Against San Antonio, he finished with 17 points and five rebounds in 25 minutes.

Warriors Analysis
The Miami Heat jumped on the Golden State Warriors early and nearly shocked the NBA with a win over the Warriors, but Golden State rallied back with 96 points in the final three quarters to come from behind for the second straight game in their 120-118 win on Sunday.
Leading the comeback was Kevin Durant, who had 39 points and six rebounds in the win. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry had 29 points and 25 points apiece.
DeMarcus Cousins, who has played very well in his return from injury and has had a smooth transition as his minutes have gradually increased, had his first mediocre game, as he had seven points and three rebounds in 27 minutes as he had to defend Heat big man Hassan Whiteside. However, Cousins was one of the players responsible for the comeback win. After Durant missed the go-ahead basket to take the lead, Cousins flew in for the rebound, was fouled and sunk both free throws to give the Thunder the lead.
He’ll have another big assignment tonight in Jazz center Rudy Gobert, so we’ll see if that affects his performance.
