Los Angeles Lakers at Philadelphia 76ers 2/10/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers will look to build off a huge road win against the Boston Celtics and start a winning streak as they visit the Philadelphia 76ers this afternoon.

The Lakers still have some work to do if they want to figure into the playoff picture in the Western Conference. They are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 28-27 record.  They’ve gone 4-6 in their last 10 but the win over Boston and a win tonight could flip the script for them. The Philadelphia 76ers are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference as the Indiana Pacers have gone on a surprising five-game streak to move ahead of them. Philadelphia is 35-20 on the season and is 6-4 in their last 10.

Philadelphia will be looking for the regular season sweep this afternoon after beating the Lakers 121-105 on January 29. J0el Embiid led the 76ers with 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Brandon Ingram had 36 points for the Lakers.

Los Angeles Lakers Analysis

Los Angeles LakersThere’s been so much turmoil surrounding LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers after they were unable to swing a deal to bring Anthony Daivs to Hollywood and especially after an embarrassing 94-136 loss to the Indiana Pacers, their win on Thursday night over the Boston Celtics was just what the team needed.

In the 129-128 win, guard Rajon Rondo came up big to knock down a late jumper to give the Lakers the win. He finished the game with 17 points and 10 assists. LeBron James led the team with a triple-double of 28 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds.

Whatever had been plaguing Kyle Kuzma seemed to no longer be a factor as he rattled off 25 points, and seven total Lakers players scored in double figures, with JaVale McGee and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each having 17 apiece.

Boston had the lead through a majority of the first half, but a 42-point third quarter by the Lakers put them right back in position to be able to win late.

Philadelphia 76ers Analysis

Philadelphia 76ersAfter losing to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, 107-119, the 76ers came up with a big interconference win as well on Friday night 117-110 over the Denver Nuggets. It was the debut of the Bobi + Tobi show since they relocated to Philadelphia.

The 76ers jumped out to an early lead and closed out strong with their new starting five of Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid.

Redick, who has often been overlooked as this new group has been called a big four instead of a big five, put on a show as he has all season for the 76ers. He finished with 34 points, leading all scorers. Jimmy Butler added 22 points and seven rebounds, Embiid had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Harris finished his first game as a Sixer with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Aside from acquiring Butler and Boban Marjanovic, the 76ers also traded for Mike Scott in the Clippers trade and also added James Ennis and Jonathon Simmons. Brett Brown will still need to work to figure out the bench situation, but the starters looked solid and will get their first chance to play against the Lakers with LeBron tonight.
