Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers 3/2/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds
Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers Preview
The Golden State Warriors are on a rare two-game skid as the lost the last two games on their Eastern Conference road trip to the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. The level of competition will be turned up even more tonight as they take on the Philadelphia 76ers without Klay Thompson in an interconference matchup.
The Warriors seemed to be separating themselves at the top of the Western Conference, but after their recent losses, they are just one-half game ahead of the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors are 43-19 on the season and 6-4 in their last 10. Philadelphia has won their last two games and they have a record of 40-22 as they are one-half game away from tying the Indiana Pacers for third in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
The last time they met back on January 31, the 76ers won 113-104 behind 26 points and six assists from Ben Simmons. Stephen Curry had 41 for the Warriors but it wasn’t enough for the win.

Warriors Analysis
While the Warriors have lost against lesser competition lately, one positive from the Heat and Magic games were that Steve Kerr was able to rest several of his key players.
Against the Magic, Kerr had a tough time trying to replace the offense that Durant provides. Stephen Curry finished with 33 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Klay Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins added 21 points apiece, but they didn’t get enough help from the other starters or the bench to come up with the win, especially in the fourth quarter where the Warriors were limited to just 15 points to the Magic’s 33.
Cousins continues to play well as his minutes have increased, and aside from his scoring, rebounding a blocking, Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown has been surprised by another part of his game.
“What we found out as time has gone along is he’s a better passer than what we thought,” Brown said. “Not only is he a tremendous passer, but he’s a willing passer, too.”

76ers Analysis
The 76ers’ last two wins have come against the New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Joel Embiid was out again against the Thunder and he may be out tonight.
In Embiid’s absence, forward Tobias Harris has played very well. Against the Thunder, he had 32 points. The rest of the starting lineup also scored in double figures. Ben Simmons notched another triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, and Jimmy Butler nearly got there as well with 20 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
While a Joel-Embiid-DeMarcus Cousins matchup would be fitting with a nationally-televised game, 76ers coach Brett Brown said it was up in the air.
“Will he play on Saturday against Golden State? We don’t know that,” Brown said. “The fans should hear that. It’s still completely up in the air.”
