Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks 12/13/18: Starting Lineups, Matchup Breakdown, Odds, Daily Fantasy, Betting
Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks Preview
If game ones of an NBA season were foreshadowing in any way, this would be a very different season for both the Phoenix Suns (4-24) and Dallas Mavericks (15-11).
Then in late October, the Suns smashed the Mavericks 121-100, but they have only managed a meager three wins since then and are off to their worst start in team history.
Meanwhile, the Mavs have recovered nicely from their early season loss and are expected to be in the mix for a playoff seed. They enter tonight’s game at Talking Stick Resort Arena looking to avenge that loss and extend their wining streak to four straight games, as they come off a 114-107 win over Atlanta last night.
Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
Arena: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix Suns Starting Lineup
Not much has gone right for the Suns this season outside of that season-opening win. They were just pulverized by the San Antonio Spurs in their last game and they have now lost 10 straight.
Losing Devin Booker took their main scoring punch away, and a ton of pressure has been heaped on the shoulders of rookie DeAndre Ayton, who at times has looked like an all-star, and at others has truly looked like a rookie.
Trevor Ariza, who was a heralded free agent signing this Summer did not play in the game against the Spurs and many expect he may be moved soon so the Suns get some cap flexibility be offloading his $15 million contract.
On the positive side, TJ Warren returned from injury and scored 23 against the Spurs, but until Booker is back, the Suns remain in jeopardy of adding many more in the “L” column.
Dallas Mavericks Starting Lineup
|SF||Tim Hardaway Jr.|
The Mavericks, who currently sit at seventh in the Western Conference have won eight of their last 10 games and 12 of their last 15, which has proven to be a big turning point.
Luka Doncic has transitioned seamlessly from international to NBA play and is looking like an early favorite for Rookie of the Year. Against Atlanta, he finished with 24, points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Harrison Barnes has also been hot lately, and he added 24 against the Hawks.
Even if one of those two struggle, the Mavs have the luxury of having other scorers who can help carry the Mavericks in Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan.
Dallas faces a stiff road test ahead, and it all starts tonight in Phoenix.
Suns vs. Mavericks Betting Odds
To no surprise, the Mavericks are -7 point favorites for tonight’s game. The over/under is set at 211 points.
There has been just a slight bit of movement on the moneyline, with the Mavs opening at -280 and currently at -275.
Dallas is 12-11-3 against the spread and the Suns are 6-14-8.

DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Picks
Luka Doncic is what most NBA fantasy players’ dreams are made of. With his unique skillset, he will be a boost too many of your categories. He is definitely a stud/value combo at a FanDuel salary of $7,400. He is projected for 33.55 fantasy points tonight.
For the Suns, it’s another rookie for our stud pick in center DeAndre Ayton. With his FanDuel salary of $7,400 and projection of 36.3 points, he could easily be looked at as a value as well, but another good option there is Warren. He is projected for 32.79 points and has a salary of $6,400.
