Sacramento Kings at Golden State Warriors 2/21/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds
Sacramento Kings at Golden State Warriors Preview
The Sacramento Kings would be on the outside looking in if the NBA playoffs began today, so finishing off their season strong will be in their best interests, but they have quite a challenge ahead of them tonight if they are hoping to move up in the standings as they will be on the road against the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors are 41-16 on the season and have a two-game advantage for first place in the Western Conference. Their pre-All-Star break streak came to a halt in their last game against Portland, but they are 8-2 in their last 10 games. The Kings currently sit in the number nine spot in the West and are one game away from the Los Angeles Clippers. They have a 30-27 record, lost their most recent game and are 6-4 in their last ten games.
In their last matchup, it took a 42-point effort from Stephen Curry for the Warriors to just get by the Kings 127-123 on January 5. Buddy Hield had 32 points for Sacramento in the game. The Warriors will be looking to complete the regular season sweep of the Kings tonight.

Kings Analysis

While this will be the fourth time the Warriors see the Kings this season, this team will look slightly different, as the Kings added Harrison Barnes, Alec Burks, and Caleb Swanigan at the trade deadline. While the Kings probably hated losing Justin Jackson, the trade was a win for the Kings, who add more scoring and defensive help in Barnes, who now starts next to De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.
In their last game prior to the break, the Kings nearly upset the Denver Nuggets in a 118-120 loss. Barnes seemed to transition to the Kings quickly as he finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hield led the Kings in scoring with 25 points, and Fox had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.
The addition of Burks should bolster the bench, who has heavily leaned on Bogdan Bogdanovich this season. Rookie big man Marvin Bagley III has also been playing well in the second unit lately.

Warriors Analysis

The Warriors would have preferred to end their schedule prior to the All-Star break in better shape. They lost their last game in a 107-129 blowout to the Portland Trail Blazers. It was a game head coach Steve Kerr was ejected from. Portland had eight players score in double figures in the game and guard Damian Lillard had 29 points in the win.
Before that loss, the Warriors were on a five-game winning streak and had won 16 of 17 games, and they’ll be looking to get that momentum back as they welcome the young Kings into Oracle tonight in what could be a first-round playoff preview.
In the loss to the Blazers, Golden State was led by 2019 NBA All-Star Game MVP Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, who scored 32 points apiece.
DeMarcus Cousins did not play against Portland, which could have a lot to do with Golden State only managing to score 12 points in the fourth quarter, but he’ll be playing against the Kings tonight, and after a long rest during the All-Star break, Cousins will likely start seeing a minutes increase from the 23-25 minutes per game he was receiving before the break.
