Raptors Analysis

Toronto Raptors

After a disappointing loss to the Orlando Magic last Sunday, the Toronto Raptors came back with two impressive victories over the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers.

Against the Blazers, the Raptors had to match the play of C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard. McCollum had his second 30-plus point game of the week with 35 points, while Lillard finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, and six assists

Kyle Lowry and Danny Green did their best to limit Lillard and McCollum, but Kawhi Leonard had a big game with 38 points. Marc Gasol also had the best game since he was traded to the Raptors with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes.

“He was really good,” coach Nick Nurse said. “All of a sudden, his rust was immediately gone. He did a little bit of everything.”

Gasol seems to have some chemistry with Lowry as they are back together since back when Lowry played for Memphis.

Pistons Analysis

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons were on the verge of a four-game winning streak before they met the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night in San Antonio, losing 93-105.

They bounced back from that loss with a 129-93 clobbering of the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. The Pistons got off to a blistering pace, scoring 42 points in the first quarter and limiting the games to just 38 first-half points.

“We played as well as we expected,” head coach Dwayne Casey said. “I wouldn’t put anything into the amount of points or the point differential. I promise it’s not going to be that type of game tomorrow.”

Luke Kennard, who has been having a fantastic sophomore campaign, had 26 points in the game in just 22 minutes and connected on six of his seven attempts from long range. He’s increased his scoring average every month of the season so far, and 26 points is not a bad way to start March.

Reggie Jackson had 24 points, Wayne Ellington had 15 and the frontcourt combo of Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond had 14 and 13 points respectively.
