Washington Wizards vs. Golden State Warriors Preview

Can anyone stop the Golden State Warriors at this point? The Washington Wizards (20-26) will certainly try as they host the Warriors (33-14) tonight in the capital city.

The Warriors are currently first in the West and are on an eight-game winning streak. They have won nine of their last 10 games coming into tonight’s matchup with the Wizards.

Washington is sitting at 10th in the East. While they’ve had their share of struggles, they’ve found some success recently, winning seven of their last 10 and their last two consecutive wins.

In their first matchup this season on October 24, the Warriors won 144-122. Warriors guard Stephen Curry went on an absolute tear, scoring 51 points, while Bradley Beal led Washington with 23 points.

Wizards Analysis

Washington WizardsEven without John Wall, the Washington Wizards are showing signs of improvement, especially on the defensive end. They were close to coming up with an upset win of the Toronto Raptors on Sunday but followed that loss with wins against the Knicks and the Pistons.

Against the Pistons, Washington limited Detroit to just 87 points and only allowed two players to achieve double figures.

Otto Porter Jr. came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 19 points, Bradley Beal had 16 and every member of the starting lineup scored 10 or more points.

Trevor Ariza has also done very well for the Wizards since he was acquired in a trade for Kelly Oubre, and his former Rockets teammate, Sam Dekker, has been providing a nice boost off the bench.

Warriors Analysis

Golden State WarriorsThe Warriors will be looking for their ninth straight win tonight. In their most recent game, they avenged their Chrismas Day loss to the Lakers with a 130-111 win.

Klay Thompson set a record for his 10 three-pointers in the game, and he scored 44 points in just 27 minutes.

DeMarcus Cousins also seems to be getting even more comfortable as his minutes gradually increase. In 21 minutes against Los Angeles, Cousins finished with eight points, nine rebounds, and five assists, displaying his long-range and post game. He seems to be such a natural fit for the Warriors and has been integrated almost seamlessly.

Golden State should be well-rested. Several of their starters received rest with the early lead, and they haven’t played since Monday.

DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Picks

Bradley Beal ($9.9k) and Kevin Durant ($9.5k) are standout picks for tonight’s game. FanDuel has Beal projected to finish with 45.03 points, and Durant is projected for 47.93 points.

If you’re looking for some low salary, high production options, DeMarcus Cousins ($6.4k) will remain a value pick likely until his salary increases and his playing time reaches the 30-minute range. He is projected for 32.44 points. For the Wizards, Trevor Ariza ($7k) is at the edge of what I would consider a value salary, but he is projected to finish with 27.43 points on FanDuel.
