Kansas State visits TCU this week after having a bye last week and winning against Iowa State before that. TCU is coming off a dramatic win against Oklahoma State last week to stay undefeated. This should be a very interesting matchup in the Big 12 and could help decide more of Let’s take a look at the odds and make some picks and predictions for this game!

Kansas State vs. TCU Odds

TCU is a 3.5-point home favorite and is at -170 on the money line. The over/under is also set at 55.5. TCU being favored here makes sense. They should be the favorites to win the Big 12 overall. However, the low spread makes sense because Kansas State is still a very good team, and the edge here goes to TCU because they are the home team. The over/under seems a little low, but both these defenses have shown to be decent. However, the offenses are the calling card here for both teams, but they are very different in styles too, which will be interesting for the total here. The spread here could move up a bit for TCU too, so keep an eye on that.

Kansas State vs. TCU Prediction & Pick

The Pick: TCU -3.5

TCU has been a great surprise this year under first year head coach, Sonny Dykes. The air raid style of offense has fit like a glove for the Horned Frogs this year. The offense is averaging 46 points and 527 total yards so far this season. Max Duggan has been the main architect behind this upstart offense too. The defense has been just okay, but they haven’t needed to be amazing due to how good the offense has been. They are giving up 27 points, and 400 total yards a game too.

Kansas State has been winning in a style very different from TCU. The main ingredient behind their success has been their defense and running game. The offense is averaging 29 points and 403 total yards a game, while the defense was giving up 17 points and 355 total yards a game too. The key for Kansas State is the running game because they have leaned into that, and is why they are where they are this year. Pick TCU here and take this bet, even though Kansas State is going to put up a fight. Home field ends up being the difference here for the Horned Frogs.

Kansas State vs. TCU Key Matchups

Can the Kansas State secondary slow down Max Duggan? Can TCU contain Deuce Vaughn in the ground game?

Max Duggan vs the Kansas State Secondary

Max Duggan has been great at quarterback for TCU. He didn’t even win the starting job originally, and came in to replace an injured Chandler Morris and hasn’t looked back. He has 1,591 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and one interception on the year so far.

His best game was against an FCS opponent where he passed for 390 yards through the air and had five passing touchdowns, while also having a 79% completion percentage. The Kansas State passing defense has been decent this year so far, and has been giving up an average of 222 yards through the air. The most they’ve given up was 359 passing yards to Texas Tech.

Duggan has been nothing short of amazing for the Horned Frogs, so if Kansas State can do anything on defense against him then they have a shot here.

Deuce Vaughn vs the TCU Front Seven

Deuce Vaughn is a great weapon for the Kansas State offense. He has 120 carries, 661 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns on the year so far. His best game was against Texas Tech when he had 23 carries and 170 rushing yards. Vaughn has a chance to do well against the TCU rushing defense in this game.

The Horned Frogs are giving up an average of 135 rushing yards a game. The most they gave up was 189 rushing yards to Kansas. Vaughn is the main engine behind the Wildcats offense, so if TCU can contain him then they could run away with this game pretty easily.
