2026 Puerto Rico Open Bets: Best PGA TOUR Golf Odds & Expert Picks

If you’re looking for full-field PGA Tour action this week, Puerto Rico’s got you covered! Running opposite the Arnold Palmer Invitational is yet another PGA Tour Event, the 2026 Puerto Rico Open.

Although diminished as an “Opposite Field Event”, this has proven to be a star-making tournament of sorts, as the site of Tony Finau and Viktor Hovland’s first career victories. Length is the name of the game here, as bombers can swing freely with very little penalty for wayward misses.

Ahead, we’ll dive into a short course preview and my 2026 Puerto Rico Open bets.

PUERTO RICO OPEN BETTING OVERVIEW

A long par-72 standing at 7,506 yards and highly susceptible to the wind, Grand Reserve Golf Club is one of the purest examples of a Bomber’s Paradise on the PGA TOUR.

The list of former champions backs that notion up as well, as bombers like Karl Villips, Ryan Brehm, Viktor Hovland, Martin Trainer, and Tony Finau have used their sheer length to pick this course apart en route to their respective victories here. With negligible rough on the property, this end-to-end Bermuda layout does not offer much of an advantage for fairway finders.

In terms of Comp Courses, Vidanta Vallarta is a near-perfect representation of the style of play we should expect from Grand Reserve. Both are long coastal resort courses heavily exposed to the wind with little penalty for wayward tee shots and a distinct advantage for longer hitters. Tony Finau has notably won across both venues, and other resort specialists like Brandon Wu, Nate Lashley, and Patrick Rodgers have demonstrated consistent overlapping success. In addition to Vidanta Vallarta, El Cardonal at Diamonte, Corales, and Kapalua each serve as strong comps, rewarding bombers on open, coastal layouts.

Though not relying on a formal model for this event, I’ve looked to players with proven course and comp course history and elite driving distance when constructing my 2026 Puerto Rico Open card.

MY BETTING CARD: HOW I BUILT MY PUERTO RICO OPEN BETS

I don’t intend to watch much of the Puerto Rico Open at all this week unless I have a Sunday sweat, so I don’t feel compelled to throw in any entertainment bets like FRL. I also didn’t research this event nearly extensively enough to feel safe around any conviction props. With that said, I feel great about some of the betting value available in the outright market this week in an event in which so few players are seen as capable of closing out. So, I’ll have my full exposure for the week from an outright perspective (3.5U total to pay out 25U each).

Here is a quick breakdown of the bets I landed on for the 2026 Puerto Rico Open. Best of luck with your bets this week!

PUERTO RICO OPEN BETS: OUTRIGHTS (3.5 UNITS)

Michael Brennan

My Bet: +2500

Best Odds Still Available:

Brennan is one of very few players in this field with a recent win on the PGA TOUR, bursting onto the scene to win the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship last Fall. Brennan is one of the premier drivers on the PGA Tour, and will thrive on a long, open, driver-heavy layout like Grand Reserve.

Matti Schmid

My Bet: +3900

Best Odds Still Available:

Schmid brings a rare combination of great course history and current form into this event. He’s finished top-10 here in each of his last two trips, and his game looked complete at last week’s Cognizant Classic, where he finished T9. Schmid is a bomber who profiles very well to capitalize on the conditions in Puerto Rico.

David Ford

My Bet: +4400

Best Odds Still Available:

A promising young talent in his second year on the PGA Tour, Ford is a skilled driver with plus distance and an elite approach ceiling. An inconsistent short game has kept him from contending more frequently on Tour, but he’s looked strong overall this season with finishes of T32 and T13 over his last three starts.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju

My Bet: +5500

Best Odds Still Available:

Yellamaraju is the flavor of the week in Puerto Rico, playing himself onto everyone’s radar with a T17 showing at last week’s Cognizant Classic. That marked his fifth top-25 finish over his last five starts. Yellamaraju is a long hitter who has thrived in easier scoring conditions on the Korn Ferry Tour where he picked up a win in the Bahamas last season.

Eugenio Chacarra

My Bet: +6600

Best Odds Still Available:

Chacarra will be making history this week, returning to play a PGA Tour Event on a Sponsor Exemption after leaving LIV Golf last season. Chacarra had a decorated collegiate career and has star potential, picking up three professional wins already before the age of 25. He’s a longer hitter and finished 3rd at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at the end of last season.

Taylor Montgomery

My Bet: +6600

Best Odds Still Available:

Montgomery is arguably the best putter in the world, which should bode well in a putting contest setup like the Puerto Rico Open. He’s started to catch fire on the Korn Ferry Tour with top-10 finishes in each of his last two starts, and flashed his upside in open, easy scoring conditions with a T6 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship last Fall.

Jimmy Stanger

My Bet: +13000

Best Odds Still Available:

Stanger had a great opening three rounds at the Cognizant Classic last week, playing himself into the final pairing before a disappointing final round. He was in great position to win this event in his last appearance as well, finishing T3 at the 2024 Puerto Rico Open.

Frankie Capan III

My Bet: +60000

Best Odds Still Available:

Frankie Capan III is a course specialist who only seems to pop on long, wide open, driver-heavy courses. Last Fall, he finished T3 at the Bermuda Championship and T6 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, each serving as strong comp courses for Grand Reserve.
