Yes, the Thunder are a historic team that is looking to repeat as NBA champions. But the Spurs may be the only team that can stop them. San Antonio had some success against Oklahoma City throughout the year, beating them in the NBA Cup and going 4-1 in the season series.
If they can get through OKC, it’s unlikely that any team in the East can stop them.
Knicks to win the Eastern Conference
That’s why I’m not taking an Eastern Conference team to win it all. It just doesn’t feel likely that they’ll be able to upset a team in the West, whether that’s the Thunder, Spurs, or another team like the Nuggets.
However, the Knicks look like a value to get to the NBA Finals. This is an experienced group led by Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and OG Anunoby.
The Knicks came close to getting to the NBA Finals last year before they fell short against the Pacers.
This team also had a strong finish to the season, winning five of its last six games. They’re also a balanced group that came in at 3rd in Offensive Rating and 6th in Defensive Rating.
On top of that, the Knicks were great against the Celtics this year, who are their main threats in the East, winning three of the four meetings.
With that in mind, we’ll bet on New York to get to the NBA Finals.
