Sunday’s Best 2026 World Cup Player Props
- Florian Wirtz (Germany) – Over 0.5 Assist
- Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands) – Over 1.5 Tackles
- Viktor Gyokeres(Sweden) – Over 1.5 Shots on Goal
Florian Wirtz (Germany) – Over 0.5 Assist
Germany begins their 2026 World Cup campaign against debutants Curacao. While the four-times winners have struggled in the past two World Cup tournaments, they couldn’t really have asked for a more ideal start in this year’s edition. I’m expecting goals a-plenty in this one, and Florian Wirtz could well play a key role. True, he didn’t enjoy a great start to life at Liverpool last season, but his ability to create chances are there for all to see.
He’s my choice to get at least one assist against Curacao. In a game where Germany should dominate, Wirtz will be the key force behind their attacking play.
Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands) – Over 1.5 Tackles
Strangely, there are many punters writing off Virgil Van Dijk at the moment. Yes, his Liverpool side didn’t perform well last season but Van Dijk still plays a vital role in the heart of their defence. The same can be said of his international side, where he’s been a mainstay since 2015.
The Netherlands have a tough start against Japan. The latter are technically excellent and Japan will surprise many in this year’s World Cup. They’ll attack in numbers constantly, Van Dijk will have to be at his very best to stop them. The Netherlands captain averaged just shy of 3 tackles per game during their qualifying campaign and is my pick to have similar stats against Japan.
Viktor Gyokeres (Sweden) – Over 1.5 Shots on Goal
While I’m not expecting a goal-fest between Sweden and Tunisia, Viktor Gyokeres will still likely be in the thick of the action. The Arsenal man will lead the line for his country and Sweden will be relying on him to score the goals they need to win their first Group F game of the tournament.
Whether he can manage that is yet to be seen, but I do think he’ll get a few shots off. Last season, Gyokeres had an average of 2.2 shots per 90 minutes, with 40% on target. I think he’ll keep the Tunisia keeper busy enough, but whether he can be clinical and find the back of the net is another matter entirely.
