FanDuel NFL Week 6 Tournament GPP Picks: Daily Fantasy Advice & Strategy
Contents
When playing in large-field tournaments you need to have a balance of players hitting their absolute ceiling for the week, whether that be with a stack of using a lineup of one-offs. Ownership is important but many tournaments have been won with having a few high owned players that go off that week. This article will bring you my favorite tournament plays stretched across a range of prices where I am looking at them hitting their peak. Some will carry some ownership just for the sake of being top plays while some will be lesser owned.
Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford – $7,300 – Projection: 21.1
Matthew Stafford comes in as our second-highest projected quarterback, just behind Lamar Jackson. He gets a Jacksonville defense that has allowed 22.2 FD points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. They rank 28th against quarterbacks and the Lions have a 29 implied total in a game with two poor defenses. At $7,300 he is a terrific bargain and I love pairing him up with Kenny Golladay this week.
Deshaun Watson – $8,200 – Projection: 20.8
This is another game with a total over 50 and Deshaun Watson is coming off of a strong game. Not a big surprise given the matchup and all of a sudden an offense thrive without Bill O Brien at the helm. Watson is in the range of names like Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers. Watson has a more favorable matchup for me and some cheaper stacking partners like Brandin Cooks and Will Fuller.
Running Backs
Todd Gurley – $6,800 – Projection: 14.5
There might be some recency bias baked into the ownership coming off of a strong game, but Todd Gurley is a nice option and a slight pivot away from Alexander Mattison. Minnesota’s run defense has struggled this season, allowing 135 yards per game on the ground and rank 18th against the run. Gurley at $6,800 is a strong value
Ronald Jones II – $5,800 – Projection: 15
There are a few cheap backs this week as David Montgomery in this area is intriguing as well. Ronald Jones is in a great spot against the Packers, who have allowed 24.8 FD points per game to opposing backs. They have averaged 1.2 rushing touchdowns per game and 150.5 yards per game. The Packers secondary isn’t one I love to target and getting Buccaneers exposure with Jones might go unnoticed.
Wide Receivers
Kenny Golladay – $7,200 – Projection: 13.8
My partner in crime with Matthew Stafford is Kenny Golladay. He is $7,200 which is not a bad price tag and gets a strong matchup against a weak Jaguars secondary. Golladay has led the team in targets dating back to last season and is the high upside play out of the group. If this game turned into a shootout game we are looking at a lot of fantasy points.
Terry McLaurin – $6,900 – Projection: 13.4
The Giants secondary has really struggled this season, although I do expect James Bradberry to follow Terry McLaurin around a bit and that is the only corner worth avoiding at times. With all the quarterback movement in Washington, McLaurin might just be overlooked as there are plenty of wide receivers in a more stable situation. He projects for the 7th most FD points of any wide receiver and the price tag is not bad.
Justin Jefferson – $5,900 – Projection: 13.1
Justin Jefferson dropped a dud in a great spot but has a good chance to rebound this week against the Falcons secondary. They have allowed 28.6 FD points per game this season to wide receivers. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson are the only two wide receivers really targeted by Kirk Cousins. Using Jefferson as a WR3 or FLEX play you can open up some salary.
Tight Ends
Mark Andrews – $7,600 – Projection: 12.2
Not a huge week for tight ends and there are a few I like this week. Mark Andrews is the most expensive one. Not a big surprise given the touchdown production. This is a prime spot for him against the Eagles, who have allowed 64 yards per game to opposing tight ends and one touchdown per game. Andrews has a multi-touchdown upside as a top-two receiving option for Lamar Jackson.
Eric Ebron – $5,200 – Projection: 8.1
If you want to go cheap, Eric Ebron is in a good spot against the Browns, who are allowing 11.9 FD points per game to opposing tight ends. Ebron has been involved more in the offense in the last few games and for a cheap option, he makes a lot of sense if you want to pony up the dough elsewhere. Pittsburgh has a 27 implied total and should move the ball against this secondary.
Defense
Pittsburgh Steelers – $4,500 – Projection: 8.9
I am not really sure why the Steelers have been cheaper defense on FanDuel this season. They have averaged the third-most fantasy points per game and have one of the best pass rushes in football. They get a turnover-prone Baker Mayfield and that upside is huge. Even if they give up a few touchdowns the sack numbers can usually make up for it.
