FanDuel NFL Week 3 Tournament GPP Picks: Daily Fantasy Advice & Strategy
Contents
Week 3 has a ton of options and a lot of high scoring games are on board. The 4PM games have the most appeal given it is filled with offenses like Arizona, Seattle, and Dallas. The 1PM slate has a lot of ugliness due to just bad teams and injuries. There are a lot of great running backs this week and I expect a particular core to be higher owned which I reference below. Be sure to check out our DFS projections and rankings for Week 3.
Quartbacks
Cam Newton – $7,700 – Projection: 21.2
It is really hard to ignore the Cam Newton usage in New England as he is really just their quarterback and running back. New England has a 26.5 implied total this week and the Raiders have allowed 280 passing yards per game throughout the first two weeks. Newton’s rushing upside is what is really attractive here and also the fact he is only $7,700.
Matthew Stafford – $7,300 – Projection: 21.9
With Kenny Golladay due back this week, Matthew Stafford will have all his weapons at his disposale in a shoout game with the Cardinals. While Arizona’s defense has improved, this is still a team we can attack. Don’t be fooled by the numbers as they have faced Dwayne Haskins and a hindered 49ers passing offense. Stafford has a ton of upside for cheap and is in the mix for a full on game stack of this one. The Lions should be trailing or at least needing Stafford to keep his foot on the gas.
Running Backs
Derrick Henry – $8,200 – Projection: 20.8
After being a major bust in Week 2, the ownership will take a major hit in Week 3. This is a perfect time to keep on board. There are so many good backs this week in good spots and plenty that are a lot cheaper. Now I am just planning on mixing in Derrick Henry with names like Miles Sanders, Jonathan Taylor, and Kenyan Drake still, but Henry will be lower owned than last week. Minnesota’s front seven is one to target and the Titans are road favorites. With Henry seeing a ton of work, that upside game is coming.
Austin Ekeler – $7,500 – Projection: 17.7
If you want to truly pivot at running back, I don’t know how many will be on Austin Ekeler given the loads of options. With Joshua Kelley also in the mix this might turn people off. Carolina has allowed 122.5 yards per game on the ground and 53 yards through the air to backs. The touchdowns ae already piling up as they have allowed 2.7 per game so far.
Wide Receivers
Allen Robinson – $6,900 – Projection: 15.1
There are plenty of wide receivers in the $6-7K range as there are every week on FD. Allen Robinson is one of them going up against a weak Atlanta secondary. Robinson has been quiet through the first two weeks. The Falcons are allowing 239 receiving yards per game to wide receivers and over 28 fantasy points per game.
Darius Slayton – $5,500 – Projection: 15.8
Darius Slayton has a ceiling of 23.5 over the last eight games, but a floor of 5.2. Slayton has plenty of upside and has averaged 6.6 targets per game in the games Sterling Shepard has missed and also has four touchdowns in that span as well. The 49ers are a tough matchup on paper but are missing two of their top corners and two of their best pass-rushers.
Michael Gallup – $5,700 – Projection: 11.9
With Seattle allowing over 300 yards to receivers in two games the task doesn’t get easier with Dallas’ trio of wideouts. Michael Gallup continues to be a pivot within the Cowboys offense. He has seen five targets in each game and while CeeDee Lamb has topped him in targets, Gallup is seeing big time throws down field and that 100+ yard and one touchdown game is coming.
Kenny Golladay – $7,500 – Projection: 14.7
With Kenny Golladay back, I am back in on this Detroit offense. Golladay is worth a look but does come with some risk due to the recent hamstring injury and that flaring up again. But this is a good spot for Golladay and he is someone who was a target-hog last season and has that big touchdown uspide.
Tight Ends
Noah Fant – $5,800 – Projection: 10.9
Noah Fant is already breaking out in his second year and the Courtland Sutton injury is going to give him stable targets. This is a good Buccaneers secondary which pushes me off Jerry Jeudy this week, but Noah Fant and KJ Hamler are going to be guys that get looked at a ton this week. Fant is still too cheap and while Drew Lock is out, Jeff Driskel isn’t the worst backup in the league.
Hayden Hurst – $5,700 – Projection: 9.1
Tight ends have 59 yards per game against chicago so far this season and have averaged 8.6 fantasy points per game. With the strong secondary we saw a lot funneled down to the tight end against the Bears defense. I like Hurst this week and at these prices it is not bad. Hurst is coming off a big Week 2 and has that upside on a weekly basis.
