Friday’s Best 2026 World Cup Goal Scoring Picks
- Mohamed Salah, Egypt
- Lautaro Martinez, Argentina
- Luis Suarez, Colombia
Mohamed Salah, Egypt
Mohamed Salah scored his first goal at the World Cup against New Zealand in an impressive comeback victory. Now, with Egypt set to play its first-ever knockout round game at the World Cup, I’m riding with its legendary attacker.
We should note that this game is expected to be extremely low-scoring, as the total sits at 2.5 and is heavily juiced to the under. But that gives us a bit of a discount on Salah compared to his regular price, making him worth a look here.
This should be a closely-contested game, as Australia always plays hard. They’re no pushovers. Egypt will need Salah to step it up if they’re to get through here. I’ll take the best player of Egyptian history to come through in the clutch here.
Lautaro Martinez, Argentina
With Argentina as heavy favorites against Cape Verde in a game that they should dominate, Lionel Messi is the obvious choice. However, he’s too expensive, listed at -200 odds at the time of this article. That’s why I’m going with the next most likely Argentine to find the back of the net in Lautaro Martinez.
Martinez scored in the win against Jordan, and I’ll take a shot on him doing so again, especially at a much more palatable price than Messi. Argentina is going to dominate possession against Cape Verde. There’s a chance that they get to 3+ goals in this match.
If that happens, you’re likely to see Martinez find the back of the net. The only concern is if he’s subbed off mid-way through the second half for Julian Alvarez, but I’ll take my chances on that with a price of -110 odds at the time of this article.
Luis Suarez, Colombia
My last pick is Luis Suarez, a striker for Colombia. He’s yet to score a goal for Colombia in the World Cup, but I’ll take my chances in a game where they should dominate possession against Ghana. This is reflected in the odds, where Colombia is currently listed around -200.
Suarez scored 33 goals for Sporting CP across all competitions this season, so he’s certainly capable of finding the back of the net.
Throughout the tournament, Colombia has been impressive in attack. They just haven’t been able to finish as much as you would have thought, given all their scoring chances. I’m betting that this is the game where Suarez scores his first of the tournament.
