Top Prediction Market Trades: Best World Cup Trades for Friday, June 19
USA/Australia Over 2.5 Goals: No (0.51¢ at Kalshi)
USA looked dominant in their opener, beating Paraguay 4-1. Australia surprised everyone with a 2-0 win over Turkiye.
Most projected Australia as the worst team in Group D, so a win over Turkiye was huge for them. It means that all the Socceroos need in this match vs. USA is a draw. With the top eight third-place teams advancing to the knockout rounds, four points is all you need. Getting to the Round of 32 would be a good result for Australia, so we could see them play for a draw here.
That means that we may see the Socceroos park the bus against USMNT in this match, making it difficult to see a lot of goals in this match. Add in the fact that Christian Pulisic is banged up, and you can see why the Under looks appealing in this spot.
Morocco to Win vs. Scotland (0.57¢ at Kalshi)
Morocco proved they can go toe-to-toe with the best in the world in their 1-1 draw against Brazil. After a surprising semi-finals appearance at Qatar 2022, you could argue that this version of Morocco is even better.
Meanwhile, Scotland survived with a 1-0 win over Haiti, but watching that game, the Tartan Army was not impressive at all. I think they’re going to have a tough time against Morocco.
With Morocco still having a chance to win Group C, they’ll want to make sure to secure three points in this match. We’re getting a reasonable price here, making Morocco one of my favorite buys on this slate.
Brazil to Win by More Than 2.5 Goals vs. Haiti: Yes (0.52¢ at Kalshi)
Brazil had a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Morocco, while Haiti couldn’t finish on their chances vs. Scotland. This feels like a game where Brazil will get on track with a convincing victory.
Since Brazil got a draw vs. Morocco, goal differential matters a lot to them. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head results, but since those teams drew 1-1, goal differential is the next tiebreaker. With that in mind, Brazil will want to win by as many goals as possible in this one.
Of course, this is assuming Morocco beats Scotland, and then Brazil does as well, but each of those outcomes feels likely. I’m predicting that we see a 3-0 win from Brazil over Haiti here.
Turkiye to Win vs. Paraguay (0.49¢ at Kalshi)
Turkiye had an extremely disappointing 2-0 loss to Australia in their opener. Despite 30 shot attempts, Turkiye was unable to find a goal. Meanwhile, Paraguay got blown out 4-1 vs. USA.
With an assortment of attacking talent at their disposal, including Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz, Turkiye can rack up goals in this match, especially since it’s a must-win game.
Paraguay can’t play their usual defensive style in this match, since they’re desperate for three points as well. That could leave them more vulnerable at the back, giving Turkiye a chance to flex their attacking muscles. I see a 2-0 or 2-1 Turkiye victory here.
Not in a Legal Sports Betting State? Consider Prediction Markets
If traditional online sportsbooks aren’t available where you live, prediction markets offer another way to participate in sports events. Instead of placing fixed-odds bets, users buy and sell contracts tied to specific outcomes, with prices fluctuating based on market sentiment and the perceived likelihood of an event occurring. Many platforms also allow users to exit their positions before the event concludes, giving them the opportunity to realize profits or reduce potential losses.
Over the past few years, prediction market platforms like Kalshi, Polymarket, and Fanatics have broadened their offerings. Depending on the service, users can trade contracts on topics ranging from championship winners and individual player awards to political events and other real-world outcomes.
Unlike regulated sportsbooks, prediction markets operate under different legal and regulatory frameworks, where availability can vary by platform and location. Before signing up, it’s important to check a platform’s eligibility requirements and terms of service to confirm that participation is permitted in your jurisdiction.
