WTA Tennis Preview: Charleston Open & Copa Colsanitas Betting Odds, Analysis & Information

With both Indian Wells and Miami in the rear-view mirror, the tennis schedule moves to the clay court season. However, the women have somewhat of a detour as one of the most prestigious events is on deck. That event is the WTA Charleston Open, voted by players as the best 500 level event on the women’s tour along with the largest women’s only annual sporting event in North America.

What makes this event a clay court ‘detour’ is the fact that it is not played on the traditional red clay surface. Rather, the Charleston Open’s uniqueness is that it is played on a green clay court instead. This means the surface is harder than a traditional red clay court surface with metabasalt as opposed to clay – for any geology nerds out there.

Let’s not forget Bogota, Colombia with the Copa Colsantias – also known as the ‘who can beat Camila Osorio?’ event. We’ll dive into the odds, draws and tournament information to get you ready for the WTA action this week.

One of the most prestigious events on the WTA Tour is the Charleston Open, played on green clay in the beautiful low country of Charleston, South Carolina. 2026 WTA Charleston Open Bracket Analysis

Defending champion Jessica Pegula is the top seed at this event, and gets the No. 1 position in Quarter 1 as a result. Her draw is somewhat kind, as her first real danger might come in Round 3 against the winner of Peyton Stearns and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. It will be interesting to see how Oleksandra Oliynykova fairs in the Charleston heat with temperatures expected to hit 80 degrees in the daytime. If she can whether the heat, she might be a nice dark horse in this section. Diana Shnaider, Eva Lys and Leylah Fernandez all sit opposite of Pegula in the quarter – so Jess should be fine reaching the semifinals if she can get past Round 3.

Surprisingly, Iva Jovic is the top name in Quarter 2, which is nestled below Pegula’s draw. It’s a surprise because she is still very new to the tour, with many experienced names playing in this event. Jovic has some tough tests ahead, including Sofia Kenin who has performed well in Charleston which includes last season. If Jovic gets to the Sweet 16, then she gets the leftover of Paula Badosa, Maria Sakkari, Anna Kalinskaya and Jennifer Brady – all of which have seen success in Charleston and pose a real threat if they catch fire.

Belinda Bencic would like to forget last year’s Charleston appearance, and it helps she gets the No. 3 seed and the top spot in Quarter 3. However, the names through Quarter 3 are very difficult such as Sara Bejlek, Ajla Tomljanovic and Madison Keys. If Bencic comes anywhere close to her 2025 performance then she won’t last long. She is playing lights out right now, but this is an incredibly difficult draw with many names who can top her if she plays like last year.

Finally, Quarter 4 sees Ekaterina Alexandrova as the top name in a somewhat favorable draw. Depending which Hailey Baptiste we get in Charleston, Alexandrova could have the easiest path to the quarterfinals. This, too, is very winnable with Elise Mertens as the top name to challenge her quarter. However, McCartney Kessler, Ashlyn Krueger and Caty McNally all have dark horse potential – notable McNally.

Pick: Jessica Pegula +240
Sleeper: Maria Sakkari +2800

2026 WTA Copa Colsanitas Preview, Odds & Information

The second clay court event held on the WTA Tour this week is in Bogota, Colombia which is home of the three-time defending champion Camila Osorio. The tournament takes place at the Bogota Country Club, as this year’s event poses a real threat to the Colombian queen’s reign over Bogota.

2026 WTA Copa Colsanitas Information

  • Venue: Bogota Country Club
  • Surface: Clay (Red)
  • Level Event: 250
  • Defending Champion: Camila Osorio

2026 WTA Copa Colsanitas Bracket Analysis

Despite not being the favorite to win the tournament, Marie Bouzkova enters as the No. 1 overall seed and the top spot in Quarter 1. Depending on which Ella Seidel shows up, Bouzkova has no excuse not to win the quarter and reach the semifinals. Seidel has the potential to win a WTA tournament but has struggled heavily over the last handful of months. If she figures it out in Bogota, then she could challenge Bouzkova but there is no reason the top-seeded Czech shouldn’t reach the Final Four at minimum.

In Quarter 2 is your Colombian queen and three-time defending champion Osorio, as a showdown with Bouzkova for a spot in the final has the story tennis fans want to see. It won’t be easy, as noted above, as Osorio has an early tough test before the waters lighten a bit. She immediately gets Caroline Dolehide, and while the court surface and event location heavily favor Osorio, Dolehide’s pure talent equates with Osorio and could create a stamina-draining test. If Osorio gets by Round 1 she should be fine in reaching Bouzkova for a semifinal showdown but that Round 1 match is concerning.

Tatjana Maria gets the top seed in Quarter 3, winning this event prior to Osorio’s three-year reign. Maria also presents some of the most difficult shots to hit against when playing on grass or clay surfaces due to her slicing and dicing. Round 2 will be her biggest test in this section with Katarzyna Kawa possibly waiting, but the winner of that match should win Quarter 3 as the stand out names here.

At the bottom of Quarter 4 is Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the top name in this section of the draw and the No. 2 overall seed. Her first round opponent is Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah, however, a real dark horse threat in any event she enters. It won’t be easy for JBM out of the gate, while clay court merchants and Francesca Jones loom above. Although JBM enters Bogota with the second-highest odds to win, this quarter is very much the biggest toss up of the four.

Pick: Marie Bouzkova +900
Sleeper: Katarzyna Kawa +2200
