Cavaliers Alt. Spread -3.5, Zach LaVine To Score 15+ Points, Jarrett Allen To Record 8+ Rebounds (+191 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
The Cavaliers come into Friday night as big 11.5-point home favorites over the Kings, a line that makes sense to a degree considering the Kings’ 3-17 road mark and Western Conference-worst -13.8-point average scoring margin on the road. However, Cleveland has dropped 11 games at home already this season, and its thin +1.3-point average scoring margin at home speaks to how often things have gotten close even when they’ve won. Consequently, we’ll start our SGP by capitalizing on the Alt. Spread feature to coax the required margin of victory down all the way to four points.
We’ll move on to the Kings’ side of the equation and roll with a scoring threshold that LaVine has been able to reach consistently this season. The veteran sharpshooter is averaging 20.6 points per game on the road while shooting 48.9% in that split. LaVine has scored at least 15 points in 25 of 33 games overall; the matchup against a Cavaliers team that’s allowed an NBA-high 39.5% success rate from three-point range at home ups his chances of accomplishing the feat for the 26th time this season, especially considering LaVine’s 39.9% three-point shooting.
Finally, we’ll focus on a favorable matchup on the other side by highlighting Allen, who draws one of the best scenarios for big men in the league. The Kings are surrendering an NBA-high 30.1 offensive efficiency rating to centers, along with a robust 55.1 rebounds per road game. Allen has averaged 9.1 rebounds over his last 11 games, a stretch where he’s recorded nine or more boards on eight occasions. The big man has hit or exceeded the eight-rebound mark on 17 occasions overall, while Allen is seeing 14.1 rebounding chances per game and converting them at a 55.1% clip.
Pelicans-Grizzlies Over Alt. Total 225.5 Points, Cedric Coward Over 24.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists, Zion Williamson To Score 20+ Points (+276 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
The Pelicans and Grizzlies have played to totals of 250 and 261 points in their first two games this season, and Friday’s third matchup appears headed in the same direction if line movement is any indication. The game total has climbed six points since the open at some sportsbooks, getting as high as 239.5. That makes our Alt. Total all the better at 225.5 points, a figure that should be very much within reach, especially considering the two squads combine to allow an average of 237.2 points in the home/road splits that apply.
We’ll move on to Coward’s PRA prop, which is one he regularly has bested both at home and with the sidelined Ja Morant (elbow) off the floor. Coward is averaging 26.8 points + rebounds + assists across 27 minutes per home game for the season, and he sports a 31.7 figure in that category per 36 minutes when Morant is on the bench. The Pelicans are allowing 49% shooting on the road and the second-most assists per contest in that split as well (29.4), furthering the rookie’s case.
Finally, we’ll wrap up our SGP with a bet we’ve used successfully before by banking on Williamson getting to the 20-point mark. Zion has hit or exceeded that threshold in 21 of 30 games overall, with 12 of those occasions coming on the road. The big man is also shooting an ultra-efficient 60% on the road, and he’s averaging 22.0 points in his first two games against Memphis this season. The Grizzlies are also surrendering the fourth-most points to power forwards in the last 15 contests (25.2), including the second most (25.6) in the last seven. Given the expected game environment, Zion should be an integral part of the Pelicans’ offense yet again.
