Spurs Alt. Spread +3.5, Luka Doncic Under 35.5 Points, Julian Champagnie Over 12.5 Points (+268 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

This is sets up as an interesting spot overall for a number of reasons, including the fact both teams are on the second game of a back-to-back set and the Lakers are on their third game in four nights. Victor Wembanyama is also questionable while Devin Vassell is already ruled out again, yet the Spurs are still heavy home favorites (-8).

Therefore, we’ll start by fully capitalizing on the Alt. Spread feature by bringing that number all the way down to Spurs +3.5 to account for a potential Wemby absence and random variance that the Lakers can exhibit in general. San Antonio is 12-5 straight up at home and has a +6.1-point average scoring margin there while Los Angeles has a -0.7 figure on the road, rendering that +3.5 a very solid leg.

We’ll move on to one that certainly carries a bit more risk, but not as much as might seem on the surface. The 35.5-point prop is a hefty one for anyone, even Luka, and as just mentioned, this is the third game in four nights for the Lakers. Luka has averaged 38.0 minutes per contest in his last three, so some fatigue could be in play. It took Doncic 24 shot attempts and 41 minutes of floor time to get to 35 — thereby still falling short — last time out vs. the Spurs, as well as 27 attempts and 42 minutes to get to 35 as well in the first meeting, one LeBron James and Austin Reaves were both unavailable for. He’s shooting just 39.2% overall in the two contests vs. San Antonio, keeping us confident here.

Finally, we’ll turn to Champagnie, who’s been excellent over his current four-start starting run. The talented wing has shot 50.9%, including 48.9% from 3-point range, over that span, putting up a solid 13.8 FG attempts per contest in the sample. The Lakers are allowing 48.6% shooting overall, including 38.0% from behind the arc on the road, and Champagnie has been very efficient at home (47% shooting overall, 42.2% from 3-point range) while averaging 15.4 points per 36 minutes without Vassell on the floor and 17.7 per 36 when Wembanyama is also unavailable.

Rockets Alt. Spread -2.5, Kevin Durant To Score 25+ Points, Steven Adams Over Alt. 14.5 Points + Rebounds (+201 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Rockets are solid 6.5-point road favorites for Wednesday’s matchup after blasting Portland by a 140-116 score in the first meeting this season. Houston is 11-9 on the road overall straight up and has the third-highest average scoring margin in the league on the road (+6.2), so coaxing down the spread a full four points gives us some extra security against a Blazers squad that has a -1.2-point avg. scoring margin at home.

Durant’s scoring prop makes for a solid second leg, considering his average of 25.8 points per road game and his figure of 27.6 over his last 10 contests overall. KD put up 30 on 12-for-19 shooting over 36 minutes in the first meeting versus Portland, and the Blazers check in ranked in the bottom 10 with 47.5% shooting surrendered on their home floor, including a league-high 38.9% from behind the arc.

Finally, we can turn to Adams, who’ll draw another start for Alperen Sengun on Wednesday. In the same role Monday against the Suns, Adams put up 19 points + rebounds in 31 minutes, and he’s averaging 16.2 points + rebounds in his eight starts this season. Meanwhile, the Blazers have been an especially vulnerable team to offensive rebounders, while Adams has traditionally been a very effective player on the offensive glass and is currently boasting a career-best 20.2% offensive rebounding rate. With a bit of help from a Houston defense that’s projected to limit Portland to a modest 108 points, Adams should also have his fair share of opportunities on the defensive glass to help him vault over an Alt. prop that’s two points+ rebounds less than the conventional number.
