The 40th Breeders’ Cup showcases 14 races from Friday, November 3rd to Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Like the Triple Crown of horse racing (the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes) the Breeders’ Cup is seen as one of the most important horse racing events throughout the year. Although each race is exciting on its own, the $6 million Breeder’s Cup Classic is one race in particular many bettors are keeping their eyes on.
FanDuel TV host Simon Bray took the time to speak with LINEUPS.com about the event, giving some picks for his favorite horses as well as some overall strategies. This Breeders’ Cup guide has information on how to bet the races and get the best promo code for FanDuel Racebook.

Breeders’ Cup Classic Advice From FanDuel TV’s Simon Bray
Simon Bray has an extensive history in the horse racing industry, and he shared his expertise with LINEUPS.com in preparation for the big event. Particularly, Bray gave some excellent advice when it came to betting on the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Longshots are always worth a look in the world of horse racing, and Bray has one particular pick in mind with longer odds: Zandon, a horse with a particularly interesting story. According to Bray, “Lanfranco Dettori is riding, arguably one of the best riders in the world. He just retired from race riding after 35 year career, he’s ridden all over the world now.”
“He came out of retirement about a month after he announced it, and he’s going to ride in the US for the rest of his career. So he gets them out there. He’s won a Breeder’s Cup Classic. So in the marquee race Zandon at 12 to one would be my long shot if I’m looking for a horse to upset or use underneath.”
But in terms of horses with shorter odds, Bray likes White Abbario, one of the current favorites to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic who also has quite the background. As the FanDuel TV personality told LINEUPS.com, “ There’s White Abarrio for trainer Rick Dutrow, who was suspended from the sport for 10 years. Remarkable comeback. He paid his penance. He is now back and back only for the last eight months with a legitimate chance to win one of the country’s biggest races. He’s won this race before with the horse Saint Liam.”
Bray did note that the Japanese thoroughbred breeding industry has been on the rise, which could be good news for one horse: “There’s a horse called Ushba Tesoro, the number eight horse, that won the Dubai World Cup. And he’s looked phenomenal this week on our Breakfast shows. He’s looked tremendous training. But I’d give the edge, if you were telling me to pick one, it would be White Abarrio.”
Previous Breeders’ Cup Winners
Some bettors prefer to take a look at the history of a certain race in order to try and get an edge. The 10 previous winners of the Breeders’ Cup Classic show multiple wins by horses in the 4, 5, and 10 posts, as well as plenty of winners with shorter odds.
