With Leon Draisaitl back from injury, the Edmonton Oilers have received a much needed boost in production, fielding another playmaker who excels at pressuring the net. With their offense in peak form, they are able to mask their underwhelming back line, a unit who has struggled to crack into the top half of the board in Expected Goals Against.

In game one against Anaheim, the Oilers were able to live in the crease and apply serious pressure to Lukas Dostal, forcing him to constantly make quick cuts across the ice. With the Ducks back line giving him minimal support with their coverage, expect the Oilers to build on their momentum in game two and take a commanding lead in the series.

Even when Draisaitl was out with an injury, the Edmonton Oilers front line were still able to play at a high level, entering the playoffs ranked fifth in Expected Goals For in All Situations. With Draisaitl back on the ice, McDavid and company are going to be able to take advantage of the extra space he provides with his gravity. With Dostal crumbling under pressure, the Ducks are incapable of neutralizing the Oilers assault on offense, making them vulnerable to falling too deep into a hole for them to climb out of.
