With the Buffalo Sabres just one win away from moving on to the second round, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunity, losing to the Boston Bruins 1-2 in game five. A disappointing performance, especially when factoring in their result in Expected Goals, edging out the Bruins 2.88-2.56.

Heading into Friday night, expect positive regression to swing back towards the Sabres way by exploiting a Bruins defense who struggles to defend their net. With their own defense elevating their level of play, their advantages on both sides of the ice will overwhelm Boston, making it easier for the Sabres to set a scoring pace too fast for them to keep up with and secure the win.
