Novak Djokovic-Zachary Svajda Prediction, Picks, Parlay, Odds: US Open Day 4 Men’s Best Bets (Wednesday, August 27)
Tennis bettors, strap in. The second round of the US Open begins on Wednesday, Aug. 27. I typically like to play underdogs early in this tournament, but I’m seeing some betting value on a big favorite and an under-appreciated player in what’s essentially a pick ’em.
Let’s break down a couple of matches at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, including one featuring 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, scheduled to start at approximately 11:30 a.m. ET.

Djokovic vs. Svajda Betting Odds: To Win (Wednesday, Aug. 27)
| Moneyline | BetMGM Odds | DraftKings Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Novak Djokovic | -1200 | -1100 |
| Zachary Svajda | +625 | +700 |
Djokovic-Svajda Prediction & Best Bet
While Djokovic has historically underperformed expectations during afternoon matches, there’s nothing suggesting that he’s in for a test in this spot. That’s because he’ll face the inexperienced and passive Svajda, marking a picture-perfect opponent for the all-time great.
Djokovic usually feasts on backboards like Svajda, tiring them out early on and forcing them out of their comfort zone. Djokovic should be in the driver’s seat for the duration of this match.
I understand the intrigue behind betting on a 22-year-old American inside Arthur Ashe Stadium, yet there’s nothing exciting about Svajda’s game. He had a dream first-round draw in his straight-set victory over Zsombor Piros, continuing the trend of weak competition that began in the qualifiers.
The youngster served at a mere 58% clip, which is a dreadful sight when you’re about to step on court with the greatest returner on tour.
To boot, Svajda won just 34% of the points behind his second serve. He faced 14 break points throughout, of which he saved nine. His luck is destined to run out, particularly with the way Djokovic served in the opening round, winning 77% of the points behind his first offering against a brilliant returner in Learner Tien.
We saw the limitations of a so-called “backboard” in the first round when Tien — a similar yet better version of Svajda — was handled easily in the first and third sets. This match has all the makings of a quick one to begin the second round.
I’m banking on Djokovic to win in straight sets, which is currently priced at -125 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Diallo vs. Munar Betting Odds: To Win (Thursday, Aug. 28)
| Moneyline | BetMGM Odds | DraftKings Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Gabriel Diallo | -118 | -125 |
| James Munar | -110 | -105 |
Diallo-Munar Prediction & Bonus Bet
The fun doesn’t stop there, as I’m eyeing a bet on the underappreciated Jaume Munar in the second round against Gabriel Diallo.
I’ll admit, I’ve been stubborn in handicapping Diallo, having watched him for years on the Challenger Tour. However, this 23-year-old is all power and lacks consistency and in-match adaptability.
That’s what his upcoming opponent showcases in droves. I expect Munar to surgically pick apart Diallo from the back of the court with his solid baseline play. He’s traditionally been a tough out for a highly volatile, yet talented, player like Diallo.
Although the 28-year-old Munar has tallied just one win at the US Open, he’s no slouch on a hardcourt, going 10-8 this season and 14-10 back in 2022, which was the last time he had a season to write home about.
Diallo took out Munar at last year’s US Open in four sets, but he was an unknown and undervalued player to bet on. Now, ranked No. 33 in the world, I believe the Canadian’s downfall is on the horizon.
Both had to play four sets in the opening round, yet Diallo was forced to dig deep. He won in three hours and 21 minutes, over a half-hour longer than Munar’s match. He was clearly worn down, serving at 51% in the fourth set.
If these trends continue, you can’t help but love Munar in this spot. He’s the fitter and more consistent of the two. The Spaniard is the easy choice, assuming this duel turns into a marathon like the oddsmakers expect.
I’m riding with Munar to advance, which is listed at -105 at DraftKings.
Potential US Open Parlay
I don’t plan on parlaying these bets, but they combine for +112 odds if you choose to do so. Good luck with your prediction and picks for Djokovic vs. Svajda and Diallo vs. Munar!
