Early NFL Week 15 Predictions & Look-Ahead Lines
Baltimore Ravens () at Cincinnati Bengals ()
The Ravens have some serious issues to work through on offense, and they’ve lingered long enough at this point to dismiss them as just outliers. Lamar Jackson may not be fully healthy, and he and his teammates didn’t have many answers for a normally inept Bengals defense at home on Thanksgiving.
Cincinnati unsurprisingly looked like a different team with Joe Burrow at the helm in that contest, and the talented signal-caller was able to throw for 261 yards and two touchdowns without Tee Higgins (concussion) right out of the gate following a long layoff due to a toe injury. Higgins could already be back for this coming Sunday’s matchup against the Bills, but if not, his chances of playing in this game would seem to be very high.
Both teams have tough assignments in Week 14, as the Steelers pay Baltimore a visit while the Bengals have to travel to face the Bills. Therefore, if Pittsburgh can extend the Ravens’ struggles and the Bengals can give the Bills plenty of trouble or even pull out a narrow upset on the road, this number is undoubtedly going to dip below the key three-point threshold.
Carolina Panthers () at New Orleans Saints ()
The Panthers are making a serious push for an NFC playoff spot and went into their Week 14 bye with a 7-6 record following their stunning upset of the Rams in Week 13. Dave Canales and his staff have done a standout job bringing along Bryce Young and the likes of Rico Dowdle and Tetaroia McMillan have offered serious infusions of talent into the offense. The defense has also imporved as the season has gone on, and the idle week should give shutdown cornerback Jaycee Horn to clear concussion protocol.
The Saints are trying to play out the string while giving rookie signal-caller Tyler Shough some valuable reps, and New Orleans heads into a tough Week 14 road trip to Tampa Bay sporting a dismal 2-10 record and NFC-worst -113-point differential. Alvin Kamara is also now dealing with what is likely a multi-week MCL injury, leaving the backfield primarily in the hands of rookie Devin Neal.
The Panthers are surprisingly less than a field-goal favorite for the time being despite the difference in the team’s records and available talent at the moment, but another loss on the Saints’ ledger could easily push this number up further. Therefore, for those who may not want to risk giving more points in what can sometimes be a tricky environment for visiting teams, the time to act may be now.
Green Bay Packers () at Denver Broncos ()
The Pack pulled off the highly impressive feat of a season sweep of the Lions, sealing the deal with a 31-24 upset victory at Ford Field on Thanksgiving. Green Bay is now 8-3-1 and rides a three-game winning streak into a doozy of a home showdown against the Bears in Week 14. Chicago is running even hotter than the Pack at 9-3 and with a five-game winning streak, and the battle for the top of the NFC North therefore shapes up as perhaps the best matchup of the coming slate.
Meanwhile, the Broncos are virtually on a bye week by comparison, as they’re paying a visit to the perpetually reeling Raiders. Denver did surprisingly struggle with Las Vegas at home in early November before squeaking out a 10-7 win, but Bo Nix is on much more of a roll coming into this rematch after throwing for 616 yards over his last two games.
To see a 10-2 Broncos team with nine consecutive wins listed as a home underdog is certainly eye-catching, especially when the favorite Packers have a higher chance of a Week 14 loss. With the possibility this line narrows further or even crosses over if Denver can put on a convincing enough Week 14 performance, taking the points being made available now could be the prudent way to go.
