Bet On Underdog Against Over-Ranked Favorite?

Just 18 months ago, I was starting to believe in Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The young Argentine had made a name for himself grinding down his opponents in physical matches, yet his lack of weapons made me question what many saw in this seemingly clay-dependent player.

Well, he managed to get into the lab a couple of winters ago and boost his serve with some slight gains on the forehand wing. To this point, that decision is looking like the wrong one. The 25-year-old has experienced several injuries since the start of the 2024 season, and even when he’s been on the court, he hasn’t looked nearly the same man. He stumbled to a 33-30 record last season across all competitions, and he’s just 17-20 entering play on Tuesday with a loss in each of his last two matches.

Etcheverry couldn’t look any worse now if he tried, struggling to limit errors and falling behind on his once-improved serve. That’s going to be trouble if he faces immediate adversity, and Pinnington Jones is just the man to apply the pressure.

Two seasons ago, the 22-year-old teased us with his potential, amassing an impressive record on the ITF circuit and some notable wins on the ATP Challenger Tour. After graduating from TCU and turning pro, we’re finally going to get to see him play at his home Grand Slam.

Etcheverry vs. Pinnington Jones Odds: Best Bet

Although Pinnington Jones has little grass-court experience, he’s managed to accumulate more than most during his time in Great Britain.

He’s already played nine times on the surface this season, and with a big serve and the ability to finish points quickly, I love this setting for him. It’s similar to the indoor hard courts that he first broke through on a couple of seasons ago.

As excited as I may sound, I don’t think it would take an overly-special level to beat Etcheverry. I’m betting on the Brit with a reasonable bit of confidence. According to the table above, the best odds on Pinnington Jones to win are +170 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Good luck with your wagers on Etcheverry vs. Pinnington Jones odds!

Bet On Jack Draper To Win Wimbledon?

There’s more than just one British man to bet. You may not have heard about Pinnington Jones before reading this column, but that likely isn’t the case for Jack Draper.

The big southpaw has battled injuries and fatigue early in his career, yet his ability has never been in question. Draper packs a large punch with his serve, which is more dangerous by default as a left-hander.

He shows no weakness from the back of the court with a quality two-handed backhand and a reliable forehand, only growing stronger in the last six months.

Additionally, his blazing speed and deft touch at the net create a perfect match for grass. There’s been debate over whether Draper can go the distance in a best-of-five tournament. Still, we’ve never been closer to the 23-year-old hoisting his first Grand Slam trophy.

Draper captured his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 event at the 2025 Indian Wells Open, thanks to a win over Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals. In doing so, he showcased a forehand that came in much flatter, helping him shorten points and conserve energy.

Young players develop at different speeds, and the yo-yoing of Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in recent seasons is great proof. Draper has all the tools to be a major winner many times over, and now it seems he’s used his valuable experience to improve and put his body in a better position to last a full two weeks.

He doesn’t have the prettiest draw, but he has the goods to overcome anyone in the field. A second-round clash with Alexander Bublik will tell us all we need to know about his chances.

Waiting until Draper is through is arguably the best course of action. His betting odds will more or less stand pat for a few rounds given Sinner’s presence. With that said, there’s no better buy-low candidate. At the moment, Draper’s best odds are +1600 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
