Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 2 Preview, Picks & Odds for Wednesday, May 6, 2026

Game 2 between the Minnesota Timberwolves (1-0) and San Antonio Spurs (0-1) is set for 9:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. Donte DiVincenzo remains sidelined, while Carter Bryant is questionable to play and Ayo Dosunmu is available to play.

Timberwolves vs. Spurs Betting Analysis

Despite suffering a hyperextended knee and bone bruise on April 25, Anthony Edwards logged 25 minutes in Game 1 and soared through the air when contesting shots. The superstar wasn’t too active offensively for most of the game, but he scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter. Edwards’ knack for closing games is crucial because the Wolves looked lost at the end of games against Denver without him.

Minnesota’s game plan against Victor Wembanyama was brilliant. The Wolves pushed him around physically and constantly screened him from every direction. As a result, Wembanyama often could not generate a runway to either attack the rim on offense or deter rim attempts defensively.

Now, Wembanyama finished with 12 blocks, and the Wolves only shot 54.3% inside the restricted area (Chicago was last during the regular season at 63.2%). But Minnesota racked up 35 restricted area attempts, and shooting 54.3% on them is still a decent 1.086 points per shot.

It’s worth noting that Wembanyama received a generous whistle in Game 1. Some of his blocks were either goaltends or fouls that the refs missed. Minnesota head coach Chris Finch called out the refs during his post-game interview about these blown calls – “He had a lot of blocks. He had a couple uncalled goaltendings too, so those are valuable points we’d like to have back.”

Meanwhile, it was a disappointing night for the Spurs’ offense. Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox both struggled to make an impact, and the team made just 27.8% of their triples. Will Dylan Harper receive more minutes as the series progresses? The rookie is clearly effective enough to play 32+ minutes.

The best bet for Game 2 is taking Julian Champagnie to score at least nine points. His three-point shooting is crucial for San Antonio’s offense, and he can find openings inside the arc with Minnesota devoting so much defensive attention to Wembanyama and the guards. Champagnie scored 17 points in Game 1, and look for him to be productive again in Game 2.
