Tobias Harris (DET) – Over Points + Rebounds
Somewhat lost in the shuffle of the Pistons’ relatively shocking struggles in this first-round series against the Magic has been Harris’ consistently strong performances. The veteran forward has averaged 26.5 points + rebounds across 35.5 minutes over the first four games, and he’s shot 46% over the last three contests in particular. Harris has exceeded the 22.5 threshold in each of those contests, posting points + rebounds totals of 23, 27, 30 and 26 in Games 1-4.
The success is simply an extension of Harris’ work during the regular season against his old Magic squad. In three regular-season games against Orlando, Harris 25.0 points + rebounds while shooting 56.5% across 31.0 minutes per contest. Harris has seen no fewer than 33 minutes in any of the first four games of the series, and he’s pulled down an above-average 54.5% of his 13.8 rebounding chances per contest in that span as well. While his conversion rate has come down slightly from his regular-season figure of 58.4%, his opportunities have shot up from 9.2 per contest.

Collin Murray-Boyles (TOR) – Over Points + Rebounds
Murray-Boyles is another forward who’s been thriving in his team’s first-round series, and in his case, it’s all the more noteworthy considering he’s a rookie. The 25th overall pick last June, Murray-Boyles followed up a strong finish to his first regular season with even more productive play over his first four career postseason contests in the form of 17.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals across 25.3 minutes per game. Murray-Boyles’ minutes have also gone up after he logged a modest 20 in Game 1, as he’s gone on to average 27.0 in Games 2-4.
The Cavaliers have been vulnerable against power forwards since the start of the regular season, and they hold a No. 24 ranking in offensive efficiency ranking surrendered to the position (28.1) coming into Wednesday’s critical Game 5. Additionally, it’s also worth noting the Cavs have given up the most points in the paint per contest of any team in the playoff field over the last three games (58.3), while Murray-Boyles is scoring 76.5% of his points in that part of the floor thus far in the playoffs after he sported a 72.7% clip in the regular season.

Amen Thompson (HOU) – Over Points + Rebounds + Assists
Thompson has enjoyed a solid series overall despite the Rockets’ struggles against the Lakers, and he’s particularly turned his play up a couple of notches over the last couple of contests. After delivering 30.5 points + rebounds + assists on 46.4% shooting over Games 1 and 2 — the latter with Kevin Durant available — Thompson recorded 37.5 points + rebounds + assists over 44.5 minutes per contest in Games 3 and 4.
Improved efficiency — Thompson shot a blistering 60% in that sample — and a combined 23.0 field-goal and free-throw attempts per game helped fuel the boost, not to mention Durant’s ongoing absence due to an ankle injury. Durant’s absence will continue Wednesday, as he’s already been confirmed out. Therefore, Thompson should once again see a boatload of minutes and play an expanded role offensively versus a Lakers squad he averaged 38.4 points + rebounds + assists and shot 60.8% against in three regular-season games.
