Orlando Magic vs. Detroit Pistons Game 7 Preview, Picks & Odds for Sunday, May 3, 2026
Game 7 between the Orlando Magic (3-3) and Detroit Pistons (3-3) is slated for 3:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC. Franz Wagner has missed the last two games and remains sidelined for this win-or-go-home contest.
The Pistons are trying to become the 14th team in NBA history to orchestrate a 3-1 comeback. Can they avoid joining the dubious club of one seeds to lose in the first round?
Magic vs. Pistons Betting Analysis
The Magic walked to the locker room at halftime with a 22-point lead and a roaring home crowd supporting them. Life was good in Orlando, as fans believed they were seeing the team’s first playoff series win since 2010. That’s so long ago that the first season of Game of Thrones was still a year away.
What transpired over the next 24 minutes is difficult to process. Orlando scored 19 points and shot 4-for-37 from the field in the second half, including 1-for-20 in the fourth quarter! It’s perhaps the worst single-half collapse in NBA history.
The Magic could not create an ounce of separation and were subsequently throwing up bad shot after bad shot. This led to their defense rarely getting set because Detroit was able to push the pace off of rebounds.
As difficult as it may be, Orlando needs to forget Game 6 ever happened and instead focus on winning Game 7 on the road. Wagner’s absence remains a huge hurdle, but the Magic have enough pieces to pull off the upset. They have to stop shooting themselves in the foot with mistakes and undisciplined offense.
Detroit also deserves credit for refusing to quit after a horrendous first half. They came out of the locker room with a strong sense of urgency and willed themselves to a win bucket by bucket.
The best bet for Game 7 is taking Desmond Bane to make at least three triples. He’s the best perimeter shooter on the Magic, and Bane taking the most shots may be Orlando’s best chance at winning. Overall, he has averaged 8.8 three-point attempts per game this series and sunk 3+ triples in four out of six games.
