Orlando Magic vs. Detroit Pistons Game 2 Preview, Picks & Odds for Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Game 2 between the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons is slated for 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. Orlando shocked the world by stealing a series opener that was a throwback to the 1990s era of basketball. Will the Pistons respond in Game 2?

Magic vs. Pistons Betting Analysis

Despite entering Game 1 as 8.5-point underdogs, the Magic won by 11 points thanks to their suffocating defense. They completely shut down Jalen Duren’s pick-and-roll scoring, matched Detroit’s physicality, and disrupted passing lanes.

48.2% of Orlando’s points came from inside the paint compared to 33.7% for Detroit, and the Magic also grabbed five more offensive rebounds. It’s highly unusual to see the Pistons get pushed around inside the paint, but Orlando is one of the few teams capable of doing this.

Detroit has to receive more offense from players not named Cade Cunningham. He was the only player who could reliably get to his spots and score in Game 1, which is not a winning recipe. Cunningham also generated 17 potential assists but only finished the contest with four assists. Daniss Jenkins, in particular, must be better as a scorer and playmaker for the remainder of this series. Duren needs to show why he likely earned All-NBA honors, too.

One area to monitor for Game 2 is the charity stripe. Detroit racked up 38 free throw attempts compared to 19 for Orlando. It’s a massive disparity, so the Magic need to shrink this gap.

The best bet is taking Cunningham to score at least 29 points. He entered the playoffs with arguably the most offensive responsibility of any superstar. This burden is only exacerbated against a long, physical Magic defense that can defend Duren at a high level and swallow up Detroit’s bench creators. Overall, Cunningham scored 29, 30, and 39 points against Orlando in the regular season, and he notched 39 points in Game 1. Look for him to once again have an enormous usage rate in Game 2.
