Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game Preview, Picks & Odds for Wednesday, April 15, 2026

The 2026 NBA Play-In Tournament continues with a contest between the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers. The winner advances to face the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, while the loser plays Charlotte on Friday for the eight seed.

Philadelphia has won two of three matchups this season, but Joel Embiid is out after undergoing an appendectomy on April 9.

Magic vs. 76ers Betting Analysis

Orlando made a big splash last offseason by trading four first-round picks and a pick swap in exchange for Desmond Bane. The sharpshooter averaged 20.1 points per game on 60.7% true shooting this season, so he held up his end of the bargain. However, the Magic have been an inconsistent mess. They often play down to competition and struggle mightily to score during clutch time. Three-point shooting remains a massive weakness, too. But Orlando also has moments of brilliance where they cohesively gel and taken down superior opponents.

Optimistic Magic fans can blame injuries for the team’s lack of success and chemistry. Bane, Paolo Banchero, and Franz Wagner only shared the court for 356 minutes, and the starting five played a mere 167 minutes together.

Philadelphia also rarely had its stars healthy at the same time. Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George missed a combined 101 games, while Kelly Oubre Jr. (an important role player) was absent for 32 games. It’s unfortunate because the 76ers are a dangerous team when healthy. If Philadelphia manages to survive until Embiid returns, then perhaps the team could make a deep run.

On the bright side, VJ Edgecombe looks like a future star. The rookie averaged 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while holding his own defensively.

Finally, the best bet in this matchup is taking Orlando to win. Philadelphia’s rim deterrence plummets without Embiid, and the Magic’s offense is built on slashers who pressure the rim like Banchero and Wagner. Orlando also has excellent defensive options to throw at Maxey, such as Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black. If the Magic can avoid a disastrous three-point shooting night, then they have a good chance of winning this game.
