Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers Game 4 Preview, Picks & Odds for Saturday, April 25, 2026
After securing one of the last spots in the Metropolitan, the Philadelphia Flyers have been able to carry over their momentum into the first round of the playoffs, taking a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Their turnaround on offense has sparked their hot start, reducing the amount of variance they have to deal with which makes it easier for them to hold on to their leads.
With the Flyers firing on all cylinders, they will be able to continue to overwhelm the Penguins and close out the series in a sweep. Especially with the Penguins front line falling hard back down to reality, lacking the aggression that is needed to crack the Flyers coverage. With no clear path for success, expect the Penguins to continue to struggle, resulting in an early exit from the playoffs.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers Betting Analysis
Since the start of the regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers back line have been one of the more dominant units in the league, ranking in the top-5 in Expected Goals Against in All Situations with an average of 2.83 Expected Goals Against per game. Three games into the playoffs, the Flyers have been able to elevate their level of play, conceding just 2.66.
With the Flyers consistently smothering their shot attempts, the Penguins front line have harshly regressed, dropping down to near dead last in Expected Goals For. Even with Pittsburgh fielding a very versatile front line, their lack of aggression makes it easier for their opponents to clog the middle with no one on their roster averaging more than 3.00 Shots on Goal per game.
When protected, Dan Vladar has been able to thrive, averaging just 1.33 Goals Against and a .947 Save Percentage throughout the playoffs. While his current marks in net are unsustainable, it is worth noting Vladar was able to play at a very high level during the regular season, averaging 2.42 Goals Against per game in 52 starts.
On the other end, the Flyers front line have been able to elevate their level of play since the start of the playoffs, generating nearly 4.00 Expected Goals in their win in game three. The emergence of Porter Martone has played a major role in their success, averaging 0.54 Expected Goals and 3.56 Shots on Goal per game.
With both sides of the ice skating circles around the Penguins, expect the Flyers to close out the series and hold them under their team total in the process. If you want to increase your risk on the Flyers, place a smaller wager on their moneyline as well.
