Atletico Madrid vs. Arsenal Odds & Analysis
Atletico Madrid vs. Arsenal sets up as a tactical battle between two of the most defensively disciplined managers in world football. Fans should not expect a repeat of Tuesday’s end-to-end, attack-heavy semifinal.
That defensive identity was evident in Arsenal’s quarterfinal against Sporting, where just one total goal was scored across both legs. While the Gunners’ attack has cooled over the past month, Arteta’s squad continues to rely on its defensive stability.
David Raya and Arsenal’s back line will need another disciplined performance against an Atletico Madrid side that thrives on capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes. Atletico demonstrated that ruthlessness against Barcelona, scoring two of its three aggregate goals after capitalizing on a red card.
However, Diego Simeone cannot expect Arsenal to offer the same opportunities. The North London club arguably boasts the strongest defense remaining in the competition, conceding just five goals in 12 Champions League matches this season.
In fact, one of Arsenal’s eight clean sheets in the UCL this season came against their semifinal opponent back in October. Arsenal already defeated Atletico earlier in the Champions League campaign, earning a dominant 4–0 victory in London.
Still, with both teams evolving since that meeting, a similarly lopsided scoreline feels unlikely. Arsenal has not scored four goals in a match in over two months and has averaged just 1.2 goals per game across all competitions since March 1.
Even with Atletico’s recent poor form at home, Arsenal’s attacking struggles point toward a cagey first leg. Both sides will be comfortable controlling possession and minimizing risk, suggesting chances could be limited throughout the match.
Best Bet: U2.5 Goals
Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League DFS Picks

Wednesday’s Champions League semifinals DFS lineups consist of six of the most important players for Atletico Madrid vs. Arsenal.
Simeone’s striker, Julian Alvarez, captains our lineup for obvious reasons. Not only is Alvarez arguably the best player on the pitch between these two clubs, but the Argentine has had a tremendous UCL campaign, sitting fourth amongst all players with 13 G/A this season. The former Manchester City attacker will be up against some familiar foes and should produce in this matchup.
Our first two flex spots consist of the starting goalkeepers for either club. Both Raya and Juan Musso have been exceptional in this tournament and can be counted on moving forward. Musso has stepped into a bigger role for Simeone with Jan Oblak forced to miss time due to
injury. During his short stint in the Champions League, Musso is averaging 6.75 saves per match. Both keepers should have ample opportunities to pick up DFS points in this match.
Our next flex position is Arteta’s Swiss Army Knife, Declan Rice. Rice can be used in so many different areas in the midfield, and his production backs that up. Whether it’s tackles, key passes, crosses, or standing over a free kick, Rice makes his presence felt in every match. Expect the England international to play a big role in Arsenal’s game plan here.
The final two spots in our lineup belong to Atleti’s Alexander Sorloth and Marcos Llorente.
Sorloth has been one of Simeone’s most dependable attacking options in the Champions League this season. The Norwegian striker has 7 G/A in the competition thus far despite starting just five matches. Whether the veteran forward starts or not, Sorloth is known for his role off the bench in changing games.
Finally, Spanish midfielder Llorente rounds out the lineup as one of Atletico’s most pivotal pieces all season. The veteran midfielder came up big for Simeone during the quarterfinal match versus Barcelona. Llorente ended up providing Ademola Lookman with the goal that would eventually see Atleti through to the next round. The Spaniard has been solid in attack and defense, and will surely create chances for his teammates in this contest.
