Wisconsin Badgers Roster 2019 Badgers Roster

Head Coach: Paul Chryst        2017 Salary: $3,200,000        Offensive Coordinator: Joe Rudolph       Defensive Coordinator: Jim Leonhard

Stadium: Camp Randall Stadium       Surface: Turf        City: Madison        State: Wisconsin

The Badgers start the season at the 4th ranked team in the Associated Press poll. One voter gave the team the nod for a first-place vote, and this would seem fitting for a team that finished 13-1 last season. The roster last year was touted as one of the best in Wisconsin history, which says a lot when you look at the historical make-up of teams past and legendary players that came through Camp Randall. For the second consecutive year the team ended within the top-10 of the ranking system, being edged out slightly for a spot within the National Playoff. This year looks to be more-of-the-same for this team and they will build on the tangibles that help them build in the victory column.

2019 Wisconsin Badgers Roster

This season, the Badgers strength of schedule might be the thing that hurts them the most. A perfect finish would almost solidify a playoff appearance, but any slips could lead to drop-off. Playing Michigan at the Big House and Penn State in late-season contests will really put this team to the test. The team returns most of the players seen on the roster last year. The offense has the same signal caller in Alex Hornibrook. Hornibrook was efficient, which is something that Badgers quarterbacks have historically struggled with. While he favored his big tight end targets, he wasn't afraid to go downfield or give his slot options some work. The good news for Hornibrook is the return of Heisman hopeful, Jonathan Taylor. Taylor finished second in the Big Ten in rushing behind Saquon Barkley, who would be drafted with the 2nd overall pick in this year's draft. Taylor can return his game behind an All-Pro offensive line that returns a couple of the starting talents found on last year's line. The wide receiver core loses out on a generational, college talent in Troy Fumagalli. The team is really going to miss the usage and blocking he provided, but they have stocked that position with depth via walk-ons and other rostered talents. The wide receiver position will once again excel with the return of younger prospects, A.J. Davis and Danny Davis. Quintez Cephus, one of the team's leading receivers last season, will not be joining the team as he faces major allegations and charges. This is a tough blow to the team, but they have historically operated well within the next-man-up system. The defense returns some of their main attractions in terms of playmakers in T.J. Edwards and D'Cota Dixon. The defense has some holes to fill upfront through the secondary. Having Jim Leonhard on board with the defense is something that keeps this group together. Edwards is the voice of reason in the middle, while Dixon takes a young secondary into battle. Leonhard was a former walk-on with the team, so getting these players into a game mentality should not be an issue for the former Badgers standout.
