2024-25 Washington Football Team Injury News

Top Injuries To Impact Redskins 2018 Season

Derrius Guice - Washington didn’t have many injuries to start the 2018 season, but Derrius Guice was a big blow. He will miss his rookie season with an ACL tear, and will look to come back before 2019. This led to Adrian Peterson signing in Washington, but also Chris Thompson continuing his expanded role within the offense. If Guice doesn’t get injured, we wouldn’t be looking at Adrian Peterson starting in 2018. Washington should continue to focus on a balanced offense moving forward, with each back having their own role.

Top 5 Injuries in Redskins Franchise History

We can probably start with Robert Griffin III here, who was drafted behind Andrew Luck and that was supposed to be a quarterback duo to set the league in motion for years to come. Both have significant injuries to their name, but we are now looking at RGIII being just a roster guy now. The Washington organization can have a lot of blame after clearing him with a LCL sprain, and pushing him in bad conditions for more weeks to follow. He eventually had to have surgery on his LCL and ACL. Griffin was then rushed back for next season, and more controversy came about. He finished the season, but did not look like himself. In the 2014 season, RGIII dislocated his left ankle. and that is when he started to slip behind the depth charts of other quarterbacks in Washington, and then later on in Cleveland. DeAngelo Hall is one of the better cornerbacks to play the game over the last decade. Hall had two Achilles injuries which dampened his play later in his career. It was miraculous that he was even able to overcome either one, but he did. Hall later tore his ACL in the 2016 season, and that was it for him. Hall was a true talent, and later on the injuries finally caught up to him. Brian Orakpo is one of the more dominant linebackers in the game today, but had some injury troubles during his time in Washington. He tore his pectoral muscle back in 2011, which required surgery and him missing the rest of the season. This also happened again in 2014, and it was the same deal. Orakpo continuously bounced back from these injuries, but his time is now away from Washington. Brandon Meriweather has had a lot of off the field issues, but his ACL tear back in 2012 was one that forced him to miss time due to an injury instead of some incident with the police. Meriweather never quite got right and his track record might have been the reason teams stopped taking chances on him. Fred Davis was drafted in the second round back in 2008, and started to develop more within the organization. Davis had some drug related suspensions, but the big injury was to his Achilles, which ended his season back in 2012. Chris Cooley replaced him and that was it for his time in Washington. He later tried to get back in the league with New England, but nothing came about.
