Czechia vs. Japan Preview
We start the Tuesday slate with a game that has nothing on the line. Czechia is already eliminated, while Japan has already locked up the top seed in Pool C.
However, there is one interesting angle to watch. Czechia pitcher Ondrej Satoria, who also works as an electrician, will get to face Shohei Ohtani once again. Back in the 2023 WBC, Satoria famously struck out Ohtani on only three pitches. Let’s see what happens this time around.
Japan is starting Hiroto Takahashi, who put up a 2.83 ERA in 171.2 innings in the Japan Central League this past season. Even with nothing at stake, Japan will still put on a show in front of the home crowd at the Tokyo Dome. Expect a blowout win with a few home runs.

Israel vs. Netherlands Preview
Israel has already been eliminated from the competition, but they can hold their heads up high after a win over Nicaragua. The same goes for Netherlands. Each of these teams is playing for a 2-2 finish at this tournament.
Carlos Lequerica takes the mound for Israel. This is a 25-year-old righty who put up a 2.35 ERA in 53.2 innings in the Detroit Tigers‘ Single-A affliate.
The Netherlands counters with Ryjeteri Merite, a 20-year-old lefty who is a Cincinnati Reds‘ prospect. Merite pitched a scoreless inning in the 6-2 loss to Venezuela earlier in the tournament.
This projects as a close game, but I give a slight edge to Netherlands due to their superior lineup that includes big-leaguers like Ceddanne Rafaela and Ozzie Albies.

Canada vs. Puerto Rico Preview
Canada is trying to stay alive in this tournament following an upset loss to Panama. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico locked up a spot in the next round following a win over Cuba.
While home-field advantage makes it tough to beat Puerto Rico, Canada has the bats to put a scare in them, led by Josh Naylor of the Seattle Mariners. There’s also power in this lineup, with Tyler O’Neill and Owen Caissie.
Canada has a complicated path to advance now. If they beat both Puerto Rico and Cuba, they’re through. If they win one of those games, they’d need to rely on the tiebreaker, which goes by head-to-head record and then lowest runs-allowed quotient (runs allowed divided by defensive outs).
Jordan Balazovic is expected to start for Canada. This is a minor leaguer for the Detroit Tigers who put up a 3.69 ERA in Triple-A last season. Puerto Rico is going with

Canada vs. Puerto Rico Betting Pick
I’m zeroing in on Canada vs. Puerto Rico for my betting pick for the Tuesday slate.
This feels like a letdown spot for Puerto Rico following a huge win over rival Cuba. Puerto Rico is now guaranteed a spot in the next round, so there’s a bit less at stake here. Meanwhile, Canada is looking to bounce back from their loss vs. Panama to keep their tournament hopes alive.
Puerto Rico are relatively heavy favorites here, which gives us an opportunity to take Canada on the run line at a reasonable price.
