Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 6 Preview, Picks & Odds for Thursday, April 30, 2026

Game 6 between the Boston Celtics (3-2) and Philadelphia 76ers (2-3) is set for 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC Sports. Joel Embiid limped to the locker room after landing awkwardly on his knee in the third quarter of Game 5, but he returned to the contest and is not listed on the injury report. Will Philadelphia defend home court and force a Game 7?

Celtics vs. 76ers Betting Analysis

Boston entered the fourth quarter with a one-point lead, but it only managed 11 points during the final frame largely because Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White combined to go 0-for-10 from the field.

White’s efficiency remains a massive problem for Boston. He finished the regular season tied for the second-lowest effective field goal percentage in the NBA among qualified players. Only rookie Jeremiah Fears posted a lower percentage. Through six playoff games, White is shooting 29.8% from the field and 21.2% from deep. Yikes! Tatum and Brown’s paint pressure becomes less lethal when perimeter shooters like White do not hit their catch-and-shoot looks.

On the other side, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey racked up a combined 58 points on 22-of-41 shooting from the field. Embiid’s size and touch around the basket pose issues for Boston’s center rotation, while Maxey is quick enough to drive past the Celtics’ first line of defense. Their scoring should be relatively sustainable for the remainder of the series.

If Paul George, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes knock down their shots and provide enough supplemental scoring, then Philadelphia definitely has a chance to go the distance and possibly win the series. The talent is there.

The best bet is taking Joel Embiid to record at least five assists. Boston cannot allow him to isolate on post-ups, and the Celtics’ defense fundamentally loves to force kick-outs rather than allowing shots near the basket. Overall, Embiid has notched six and eight assists since making his series debut.
