Monday Night Football Rams vs. Falcons picks: Rams -7 (-120)
I’m riding with the Rams as road favorites because I think they’ll bounce back after a disappointing loss to the Seahawks. Simply put, the Rams blew that game. We’ve seen that happen several times this year, including losses to the 49ers and Eagles.
When Los Angeles lost to Mac Jones at home on Thursday Night Football earlier this season, they responded with a 17-3 win over the Ravens. I’m betting on something similar here, where they control the game on the ground and cause problems for Kirk Cousins.
The Falcons have been leaky in run defense, allowing Michael Carter to rush for 65 yards on only 11 carries. This is likely going to be an issue for them against Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, so I look for the Rams to get back on track here, even with no chance at the No. 1 seed.
Rams vs. Falcons predictions: Under 49.5 (-115)
As mentioned above, I’m betting on the Rams getting back on track on the defensive side of the ball. This group has allowed 38 and 34 points in the last two games, so it’s a get-right spot against Cousins and the Falcons.
We’ve seen the Rams put up dominant defensive efforts at times this year, including in a 34-7 win over Tampa and a 17-3 win over the Ravens. This is the kind of game that I’m expecting in Week 17.
The Rams need to patch things up defensively to reach the Super Bowl, so that should be a priority this week. Cousins is a statue in the pocket, which is bad news against Jared Verse and company.
Rams vs. Falcons props: Kyren Williams Over 63.5 rushing yards (-112)
The first prop focuses on Kyren Williams to surpass 63.5 combined rushing yards. This is a low bar for Kyren if you take a quick look at his recent game log:
- 23 rush attempts, 70 rushing yards
- 15 rush attempts, 78 rushing yards
- 13 rush attempts, 84 rushing yards
- 13 rush attempts, 72 rushing yards
- 12 rush attempts, 46 rushing yards
- 12 rush attempts, 91 rushing yards
- 14 rush attempts, 73 rushing yards
- 25 rush attempts, 114 rushing yards
As you can see, Kyren has gone over this number in seven of his last eight games. The reason why it’s set so low is that the Rams have been using Blake Corum more often lately, but given the matchup against the Falcons (26th in Rush EPA), I expect an efficient outing from Kyren.
Rams vs. Falcons prop bets: Drake London Under 66.5 receiving yards (-115)
My final pick is a Drake London fade, taking him to go under 66.5 receiving yards. In London’s first game back in action last week, he was limited to only three catches for 27 yards.
This is a star wide receiver, but one who is still not at 100 percent, carrying a questionable tag due to a knee injury. With nothing to play for, there’s no reason to risk aggravating that injury. That doesn’t mean I think London won’t play; it just means we could see a slightly reduced role, resulting in an underwhelming production.
I’m betting that the Rams will dominate time of possession thanks to an effective running game, which will make it difficult for London to eclipse this number.
