World Cup Goal Scoring Picks, Odds, Predictions for Sunday, July 5, 2026
The Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues, with two matchups on tap for Sunday, July 5th.
We start with Brazil vs. Norway at 4 p.m. ET at New York New Jersey Stadium, followed by Mexico vs. England at 8 p.m. ET at Mexico City Stadium. The Brazil/Norway game can be high-scoring, but goals could be hard to come by for Mexico/England. We’ll pick at least one goalscorer for each match, but we’ll stick to a longshot in Mexico/England, since there may be only one goal in that one.
With two interesting matchups on tap, there is no shortage of opportunities for goals here. Below, we’ll dive into some of the top candidates to find the back of the net. Make sure to check out our World Cup match trends page for daily odds, insights, and betting data for each game.

Sunday’s Best 2026 World Cup Goal Scoring Picks
- Erling Haaland, Norway
- Vinicius Junior, Brazil
- Raul Jimenez, Mexico
Erling Haaland, Norway
We’re getting a bit of a discount on Erling Haaland at +130 odds at the time of this article because Norway is an underdog against Brazil, so let’s take advantage of this favorable price.
We all know that Haaland is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world, so there’s nothing really to be said about the Manchester City superstar. What we do want to focus on is the projected game script.
This game has a 2.5 total, juiced to the over at -135, so the market projects at least three goals in this game. Norway has a 0.5 goal total, but it’s extremely juiced at -250, so they’re very likely to get at least one.
Brazil is absolutely a World Cup contender, but they’re not a juggernaut like France. There’s an outside chance that Norway pulls off the upset. If that happens, you can bet that Haaland will be a major contributor. At +130 odds, he’s worth a look in this spot.
Vinicius Junior, Brazil
Vinicius Junior is Brazil’s biggest threat to score, so we’ll ride with him at around +130 odds at the time of this article. Vini Jr. has three goals in this tournament, but he hasn’t found the back of the net in the last two matchups, so we’ll take a shot here.
It’s the right game environment for goals, so we’ll take a shot on Vini Jr. ending his two-game goal-less drought.
I see at least 2-1 in this match, making Brazil’s most dangerous attacker worth a look at this price.
Raul Jimenez, Mexico
Here we have a much more difficult game environment to predict a goalscorer. The game total is listed at 2.5, but the Under is juiced at -175. Goals are hard to come by in the altitude at Azteca. That’s why Mexico haven’t even conceded a goal just yet.
I think that ultimately, home field advantage will prove to be too much for England, with Mexico going through, likely 2-1 in extra time.
England is slightly favored in this match, so in a low-scoring game environment, I prefer to go with a goalscorer on the underdog, since we’re getting a better price.
At the time of this article, Raul Jimenez is listed at +250 odds, which is enough value to get me on board. Bet on the Mexican striker to find the back of the net in this spot.
