Top Prediction Market Trades: Best World Cup Trades for Sunday, June 28

Canada/South Africa Over 2.5 Goals: No (0.59¢ at Kalshi)

Canada comes into this match as the favorite. They nearly erased a 2-0 deficit against Switzerland following an incredible goal by Promise David in the 76th minute. While they ultimately fell short, it was encouraging to see them remain competitive against a rock-solid Switzerland squad.

South Africa shocked the world with a win over South Korea. This was a team that looked underwhelming in a 2-0 loss to Mexico. They were also fortunate to get a draw vs. Czechia, thanks to a handball that led to a penalty. But credit to Bafana Bafana, who were highly organized and tough to break down against the Koreans.

Even though Canada comes into this match as relatively heavy favorites, we can’t count out South Africa, especially with what we saw from them against South Korea. That doesn’t mean I don’t think Canada will win, but rather, it may be a bit of a sweat. At least more so than what the current market pricing shows.

To that end, my favorite trade in this match is Under 2.5 goals.

Expect a tight match where South Africa takes a conservative approach, preferring to catch Canada on the counter. South Africa has allowed only three goals in three matches, so they’ve been tough to score on in this tournament. Even if Alphonso Davies is ready to return for Canada, it doesn’t feel like we’re getting many goals in this match.

We also have to acknowledge the absence of Ismael Kone, a key midfielder for Canada. They could continue to have trouble generating scoring chances without him.

On top of that, we should mention that South Africa has also had a tough time scoring goals, putting up only two in three matches. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Canada keep a clean sheet here.

With that in mind, Under 2.5 goals feels like the right move. Look for a 1-0 Canada win.

Not in a Legal Sports Betting State? Consider Prediction Markets

If sports betting through licensed online sportsbooks isn’t an option where you live, prediction markets offer a different way to participate in sporting events. Instead of making fixed-odds bets with a sportsbook, users buy and sell contracts linked to event outcomes in an open marketplace. As market sentiment changes, contract prices rise and fall to reflect the crowd’s assessment of each outcome’s likelihood. Many platforms also give traders the flexibility to exit a position before the event is finalized.

The range of sports markets available has increased significantly. Operators like Kalshi, Polymarket, and Fanatics now feature contracts covering game results, championship races, player awards, and many other sports-related outcomes. Most platforms also extend beyond sports, offering markets based on elections, financial indicators, entertainment, and other real-world events.

Prediction markets operate differently from traditional sportsbooks because they rely on exchange-based trading rather than bookmaker-set odds, and they are subject to different regulatory frameworks. Availability depends on both the operator and local laws, meaning some platforms are unavailable in certain jurisdictions. Before opening an account or trading contracts, confirm that the platform is authorized to operate where you live by reviewing its eligibility rules and terms of service.
