Top Prediction Market Trades: Best World Cup Trades for Tuesday, June 30
Norway Wins by More Than 1.5 Goals: No (0.76¢ at Kalshi)
My favorite play in this game is Côte d’Ivoire +0.5, but it isn’t available on Kalshi, so we’ll go with +1.5 instead.
I think Côte d’Ivoire is being a bit undervalued in this match. This is a team that had a 1-0 lead over Germany up until the 68th minute before losing 2-1. They also have an impressive 1-0 win over an Ecuador squad that is extremely tough to break down.
Yes, Norway is one of the best attacking teams in the tournament, led by Erling Haaland. They scored seven goals in their first two games. But I didn’t like their decision to bench their players against France, even though first place in the group was up for grabs. That was an opportunity for Norway to make a statement game, testing themselves against one of the best teams in the world.
I have a feeling that this move killed their momentum, and we’re going to see a letdown game here. Look for Côte d’Ivoire to keep it close, perhaps even forcing extra time.
France Wins by More Than 1.5 Goals: Yes (0.57¢ at Kalshi)
France has performed up to lofty expectations so far, looking like the best team in the tournament.
Taking France -1.5 over Sweden looks like the right play. Les Bleus have scored 10 goals in three games so far. We saw what happens to Sweden when they face a potent attacking side. Just look at what Netherlands did to them in a 5-1 loss.
Simply put, I don’t think Sweden is good enough to keep this match close. We’re getting a reasonable price on France to win by 2+ goals, making this feel like the right side here.
I can’t see the Swedes slowing down the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and Michael Olise. The French attack looks unstoppable right now.
Mexico/Ecuador Over 2.5 Goals: No (0.68¢ at Kalshi)
Paying up for Mexico/Ecuador Under 2.5 goals feels like the safest play on the Tuesday slate.
Mexico has yet to concede a goal in the tournament. Ecuador allowed five goals in 18 games during CONMEBOL qualifying. So far in the World Cup, Ecuador has allowed three goals in three games.
Playing at altitude in Mexico City, where fatigue can be more of a factor, there’s a good chance that we only see one goal in this match, perhaps even in extra time.
While I like El Tri to win the match, buying into a low-scoring outcome is the stronger play. Don’t be worried about the cost here, as it’s worth it to take this Under.
Simply put, these two teams are playing too well defensively.
