Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets (11/06/22): Betting Odds, Prediction, Depth Charts
Contents
In week nine of the NFL season, an AFC North matchup between two teams hopeful for playoff aspirations gets underway as the Buffalo Bills head to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets. The Bills are standing right where many expected as top of the AFC currently with a 6-1 record and looking as strong as any team in the NFL right now. They are led by an absolutely explosive offense led by QB Josh Allen but also a very powerful defense that has gotten better since signing veteran LB Von Miller during the offseason.
The Jets were not expected to be a true AFC North competitor this season but they have shocked the nation early in this season to get up to a 5-3 record with big wins over the Dolphins, Packers, and the Browns. They have lost their RB Breece Hall due to injury and 2nd year QB Zach Wilson showed costly mistakes last week against the Patriots with 3 INTS that led to a loss. Many questions are left on the table as to whether this team’s early success was legit or just a fluke and this game will be a big game to show the true answer to Jets Nation. Let’s get into this game’s picks and predictions:
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Betting Odds
The Bills enter this game as heavy favorites on the road at -670 moneyline odds. The Bills are also -12.5 spread line favorites at the moment as well. A big reason due to this heavy line is due to the Jet’s tough loss against the Patriots that showed their offense has major struggles with Breece Hall now out for the season. This also follows a massive Sunday Night win for the Bills over the Packers where the offense showed their ability to score early right off the gate. The Jets lost to the Patriots 22-17 but now they will be going up against the top team in the AFC North, so they will need a much improved game from Zach Wilson.
The over/under total is currently 47.5 points. The Bills have averaged 29 points per game while the Jets average 22 points per game. The Bills also average 14 points per game while the Jets average 19 points allowed.
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Picks & Predictions
My pick: Buffalo Bills -12.5 (-115)
I am riding on the momentum the Bills are showing and taking them -12.5 this week. Their offense is simply too good as Allen, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, and Devin Singletary have all been but impossible to stop. I also think the Jets have been overperforming this season and last week may show what to expect from their team. They have a strong defense but I think the Bills offense overpowers them with their playmakers. The Jets offense turnover mistakes may be on full display as this strong Bills Defense comes straight for Zach Wilson who is prone for turnover mistakes.
I like the Under in this game as I believe the Jets offense might be in for a long day. We just saw 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers struggle to move the ball down the field last week against this Bills team and I don’t think the Jets will be any better. I think the Bills don’t have issues scoring but I see the final hovering closer to 40.

Bills vs Jets Key Matchup
Zach Wilson vs. Buffalo Bills Defense
The biggest matchup of this game is if Zach Wilson can keep the Jets offense in this game. The Bills Defense has been great so far, allowing only 14 points per game. LBs Von Miller and Tremaine Edwards are great in the middle of the field. They held the Packers to just 17 points last week. Wilson has been a good game manager for the Jets but showed his issues of last season last week with 3 INTs. He only had 2 INTs prior to last week which shows the loss of Breece Hall is a major effect on this offense. I suspect it may be another long day for this Jets offense.
