Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears Odds, Picks, and Predictions (12/4/22)

In week 13 of the NFL season, we get a rematch of the oldest rivalry in the NFL as the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.  While the Packers got the best of the Bears last time earlier in the year, this game will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago.  This rivalry game doesn’t have a whole lot on the line this season as both of these teams are currently swimming in mediocrity below the .500 line and are all but eliminated from playoff contention at this point.  What they will be playing for is bragging rights as they do every year and the Aaron Rodgers led Packers have had their rights for quite some time now as the Bears have still struggled to find a way to beat him.  This Aaron Rodgers team doesn’t look like the team of the past however, standing at 4-8.  This is the weakest Packers team the Bears have faced in a long time so this would be their best chance.  The Bears unfortunately are not having their best year at 3-8.  Both QBs in Rodgers and Fields are also questionable in this game with injury issues and it remains to be seen if they will play.  Let’s get into this game’s picks and predictions:

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears Betting Odds

The Packers are entering this game as early favorites with -195 moneyline odds.  They are spread line favorites of -4.5 so not the biggest line.  This game is on the road and the Packers have been struggling on both sides of the ball, but the Bears have been struggling as well and are in the midst of a rebuild with new team leadership and pieces.  The Packers had aspirations for another playoff run so this has been a disappointing season for a team that has continuously let down in prior seasons in the postseason after great regular seasons.  Aaron Rodgers was injured in last week’s loss to the Eagles as he suffered rib injuries and is still suffering with thumb issues.  Backup QB Jordan Love finished the game for him and it is still uncertain if Rodgers will play this Sunday.  He did come out and said in an interview yesterday that he feels fine and will be ready to play Sunday so I expect him to be playing but not sure if he will be 100 percent.  Justin Fields is also a question mark for the Bears as he missed last week and will be a game-time decision.  He has been the Bears most explosive player, constantly keeping plays alive with his legs so it’s crucial for Chicago if he can play.

The over/under total for the game is currently 43.5 points.  The Packers and Bears both average approximately 20 points a game and haven’t been the most explosive offense so it makes sense why it’s so low.

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears Picks & Predictions

My Pick: Green Bay Packers -4.5 (-110)

I am riding with the Packers to cover on the road against the Bears.  Even with the struggles the Packers have had this season, I will always take the Packers over the Bears as long as Rodgers is playing.  He has always had an answer for this franchise and I won’t go against him in this series until he gives me a reason to.  I also think Rodgers might be more game ready then Fields with Rodgers already saying he’s ready to go and Fields sitting out last week and making a game-time decision if he will be ready this week.  The Bears will be getting a good draft pick for sure next season.

I like the Over in this matchup as I think the Packers will find a way to score against the Bears secondary.  If Rodgers and Watson can get connected like they have been as of late,  I think they will be no strangers to the end zone.

Key Matchup

Aaron Rodgers vs. Chicago Bears Defense

Aaron Rodgers has been nearly dominant against the Bears in past years but he has had one of his worst statistical seasons so far this season.   He has 21 TDs but also 9 INTS on the season which is one of his highest ever.  He needs to play like he has in past years and especially against the Bears for the Packers to cover.
