Early NFL Week 17 Predictions & Look-Ahead Lines

New England Patriots () at New York Jets ()

The Patriots finally saw their long winning streak snapped against the Bills in Week 15, albeit barely. New England now has an intriguing and challenging Week 16 primetime road matchup in Baltimore, one that’s nevertheless winnable for Mike Vrabel’s squad given the Ravens’ inconsistencies this season and the Pats’ 6-0 road record.

Meanwhile, the Jets have a tough task on their hands as well in Week 16, as they’ll have to travel to New Orleans to face a Saints team that’s picking up some momentum behind an improving Tyler Shough and can always give visitors to the Caesars Superdome a tough time. Compounding the difficulty of the situation is the fact the Jets could once again have to roll with rookie Brady Cook under center, as there doesn’t appear to be any motivation to push Tyrod Taylor (groin) or Justin Fields (knee) back on to the field at this stage of the season.

If the Pats are able to pull off the road win and the Jets fall to New Orleans, it’s very conceivable this number inches up at least another half point to a full 10.

New Orleans Saints () at Tennessee Titans ()

As just alluded to, the Saints are in a winnable Week 16 matchup against the visiting Jets, even with Devaughn Vele already ruled out for New Orleans due to a shoulder injury. Shough has a 70% completion rate over his last five games, a sample where he’s averaging a solid 7.4 yards per attempt and has seven total touchdowns (five passing two rushing). A win against a New York team that arguably has plenty of 2026 NFL Draft-related incentive is certainly within the range of outcomes.

Meanwhile, the Titans get a visit in Week 16 from a likely shellshocked Chiefs team. Kansas City comes in navigating uncharted waters considering Patrick Mahomes’ season-ending knee injury and the fact they’re now officially eliminated from playoff contention as well. Nevertheless, there is no shortage of pride on the coaching staff and roster given the team’s recent success, and Gardner Minshew is certainly capable of managing an offense effectively and even sparking an offense with some big plays.

Consequently, a solid Saints victory combined with a Titans loss could be enough to push this number — which is at 2.5 at multiple sportsbooks — a little higher and have it reach or cross over the key three-point threshold.

Los Angeles Rams () at Atlanta Falcons ()

The Rams have a marquee divisional showdown against the Seahawks on tap Thursday night to open Week 16. Los Angeles knocked off another quality opponent in the Lions in Week 15, and while the short week and opponent will present a monumental challenge, there’s no doubting Sean McVay squad’s ability to overcome any matchup/circumstance at the moment.

The Falcons drop in on the Cardinals in Week 16, a game that could be much more challenging than Arizona’s 3-11 record implies. Jacoby Brissett could have Marvin Harrison Jr. back at his disposal for the conference clash, and even if he doesn’t the chemistry he’s displayed with both Michael Wilson and Trey McBride has been impressive.

A Rams win or extremely competitive showing paired with a potential Falcons loss could easily push this number up by at least a point, and given L.A.’s rest advantage and the public’s typical faith in Matthew Stafford and co., it could even get as high as the key number of 10.
