English Premier League Anytime Goal Scoring Picks, Odds, Predictions for Saturday, May 9, 2026
Think of the next couple of Premier League weeks as a penalty kick shootout, only each penalty kick is a full 90-minute performance, and the two teams locked in the shootout to decide the Premier League title – Arsenal and Manchester City – are doing that against other teams.
On Monday, Manchester City dropped a crucial two points against Everton – though it was in very real danger of being all three – to tip the race back into Arsenal’s favor. The Gunners now just need to win out to claim their first league trophy in more than 20 years, but City will be looking to keep the pressure on with a win Saturday – perhaps the most compelling matchup in a Saturday that starts with Liverpool hosting Chelsea.
Here are three goalscorers to keep an eye on for Saturday’s Premier League matchups. Also be sure to visit our soccer daily trends page for odds and insights on tons of leagues across the globe.
- Cody Gakpo, Liverpool
- Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United
- Jeremy Doku, Manchester City
Cody Gakpo, Liverpool
The Reds go into this battle of giants a bit banged up. Alexander Isak is dealing with a groin injury, Mo Salah is working his way back from a hamstring injury, and Florian Wirtz reportedly was unwell enough to miss a midweek training session. Given the importance of this match, and that it’s the “easiest” of the three remaining if just looking at table position, Liverpool’s going to want the three points possible to stay in the top four.
Consider Cody Gakpo as a healthy goalscoring option in a match where any goal from the Reds will be rewarded with a roaring Anfield crowd. The Dutch striker scores his last time out, in a 3-2 loss to Manchester United last week, getting him up to seven goals (with five assists) on the season. On a team peppered with question marks heading into Saturday, Gakpo’s a potential exclamation point.
Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United
Questions about Benjamin Sesko’s shin injury, taking him out of United’s win over Liverpool at halftime last week, means he’s a risk to pick heading into the contest with Sunderland — a team the Red Devils do historically well against, and they’ll be down a defender with Daniel Ballard losing an appeal to ward off a three-match suspension.
Bryan Mbeumo hasn’t scored in a league match since February, but has nine in the campaign, and seems overdue to break into double digits in one of the last three matches of the season. A win all but secures third place for United, and with matches against a resurgent Nottingham Forest and solid Brighton on the horizon, this looks to be a winnable match compared to what’s to come.
Jeremy Doku, Manchester City
City’s epic collapse on Monday – up 1-0 over Everton thanks to a Jeremy Doku goal, then going down 3-1 by ceding three goals in 13 minutes – was salvaged with a last-gasp Doku equalizer that brought City back a point in the title race. City can’t win the championship now without Arsenal dropping points, and Brentford provides a tough test to most Premier League teams, but as you know by now, City isn’t most Premier League teams.
While oddsmakers appear to be saying that an Erling Haaland goal is inevitable, Doku’s been good for six goal contributions in his last five matches across all competitions, including a goal and assist against Southampton to put City into the FA Cup finals. At the start of the season, you might have not figured a Matchweek 36 match against the Bees would have been a pressure-packed situation for the perennial powers, but here we are. Doku’s demonstrating he can thrive in those cauldrons.
