Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 4 Preview, Picks & Odds for Sunday, May 24, 2026
After three epic games to open the highly-anticipated Western Conference Finals, the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder holds a 2-1 lead. The San Antonio Spurs are dealing with key injury questions and the officiating has been a major storyline over the past two games, as OKC has used subtle physicality to neutralize Victor Wembanyama to a degree.
Tipoff for Game 4 is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET Sunday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio with NBC on the broadcast.
De’Aaron Fox (ankle) and Dylan Harper (adductor) both played for the Spurs in Game 3 and Fox seemed to aggravate his injury multiple times during the second half. Both should be listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s pivotal showdown.
Jalen Williams (hamstring) was inactive for the Thunder in Game 3 and Ajay Mitchell played through a quad injury. The Thunder’s starting lineup sputtered initially, but the champs got a playoff record 76 points off the bench with Jared McCain (24 points), Jaylin Williams (18 points), and Alex Caruso (15 points) leading the way.
Thunder vs. Spurs Betting Analysis
The Spurs were 6-point underdogs in both road games to open this series and were clearly the correct side, although they failed to cover in Game 2 in part because they lost Harper to injury and Isaiah Hartenstein was able to get away with several off-ball fouls on Wembanyama.
As the series shifted to San Antonio, the Spurs were only slightly favored, and that number bumped slightly to -2.5 when Harper and Fox were both ruled in. With their backs against the wall, the Spurs are slight favorites again, with the total at 219.5 points.
San Antonio’s games have gone over the implied total eight straight times in these playoffs. The Spurs had covered in five of six games leading into Game 2 of this series, with the lone loss coming when Wembanyama got ejected in the second quarter at Minnesota.
The Thunder has also trended over in these playoffs with a 9-1 mark over game totals. Their defensive rating jumps from 105.4 to 115.6 when playing away from OKC and their offensive rating (128) has also been higher on the road.
Couple those trends with the rise in free throw attempts over the past two games in this series due to the physicality, and you have a decent recipe for another over.
Thunder vs. Spurs Best Bet, Pick & Prediction
Wembanyama has had a massive impact on playoff games during his initial 6-minute stretch in the first quarter. His dominance led to a 15-0 run for the Spurs in Game 3 and that lead quickly evaporated when he sat.
Perhaps Mitch Johnson and his staff will let Wemby play 8-plus minutes in the first quarter in this desperation spot, giving him a great chance to go over 5.5 points in the first. While Hartenstein has done a good job neutralizing Wemby with clutching and grabbing off the ball, he can’t match up with the rising superstar.
Conversely, the Spurs have done a great job on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander early in each game. SGA is shooting 30% and averaging just 2 points per game in the first quarter of this series. Consider taking under 7.5 points for the reigning MVP.
We like the Spurs to win the first quarter and cover a slight spread (-0.5) where applicable. We lean towards the Spurs (-1.5) to win the game, but the first quarter is a bigger edge because the Thunder starting lineup is arguably the worst lineup Mark Daigneault can trot out there against a Wembanyama-led unit.
Best Bet: Spurs -0.5 1Q (-120)
Score Prediction: Spurs 115, Thunder 109
